I'll fix that in the next update. Also, I forgot to remove the doubles so the figures might be slightly off...

I can take up donations on FTP.
I've been following this thread for a while and can make a payment using my Credit Card equal to the funds transfered to my FTP account. My screen name is TheXC (Athens, GA). I post regularly on Cardrunners (more of a lurker here) and have plenty of references. If you want to transfer me the money, I will make one large lump payment via my CC tomorrow (Thursday) at midnight. |

If Children's Inc told us it would cost $30k for a playground then the big donaters could have things named after them:
JMan Balla Monkey Bars Gildwulf Evil Alligator Moat CaptainWacky Ship It Swingset Little brass plates on all the stuff with names of donaters. Possibilities are limitless. |

Wow, guys.
I just assumed that Barry would never get his 10k. I figured this was some random empty promise from an anonymous 2p2er and when it came collection time, everyone would kind of hem and haw and look the other way, saying, "well, I didn't make the promise to Barry..." I am stunned by the response. I'm making an away message so my non-poker friends can see what's going on. Here's the text: A poster from the 2+2 poker forums told high stakes poker pro Barry Greenstein he would get ten thousand dollars for saying, "LOL donkaments", which is a poker/2+2 in-joke, on the air in an episode of High Stakes Poker. And he did. Here is the Youtube clip. Barry, who is a philanthropist, requested that the ten thousand dollars be donated to his favorite charity. Of course, now it was up to a bunch of anonymous online poker "degenerates" to make good on some idle promise that one of them made. Many people probably figured they wouldn't get the promised ten thousand. And they didn't. In the scant 36 hours or so since the episode aired, more than $20,000 has been donated to Children's Inc. Donated by hundreds of poker players who never met Barry or promised him anything, and who gave out of their sense of honor and duty. Despite what Bill Frist, Congress, or ignorant, holier-than-thous might think, poker players can be very good people. I've never been more proud to be a card player. I'm gonna link this thread at the bottom after this post. I think this would make a great news story, or something like a Life of Reilly column in Sports Illustrated. Someone in media should find a way to point the relevant people to this story. I wasn't planning on giving, but I'm really, truly moved. I'm proud of you guys. ![]() |
