But, seriously,
these past days I have learned some lessons when it comes to trying to stop your freefalling downswing (Ozi, ever need to feel good, just ask me to post my graph). The problem is the other lesson I've learned: LHE is all about grinding. pushing small edges. So you have 200BB downswing, you try to make back your losses, it is like day-trading, unless you take even more risk=volatility=variance, you're back to grinding, that takes bloody ages to make up your losses, all you think is your bank-roll, and you push it with marginal cards and you are not playing your best poker anymore.

So I single-table, the graph shows me steady upward slope. But it will propably take me 18 months to be 1.5-2BB/100 at this rate. This is the definition of grinding.

I can't recall if I posted the other one of these which is like real life version of online message board behavior, but this one includes some lolcat goodness. Definitely hearty:

Also, boo to whoever moved CrMenace's flight to Monday and denied us another fun night of him making gobs of money and me making $8 and threatening bloody murder on donkeys.

[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not bumping my TR thread with this, 'cause nobody reads it anyway.

So, anyway, in the chat for the boz vs. DM throwdown a couple weeks back, CrMenace asks if I'm free on September 23 for Four Winds or possibly Majestic Star II. I give a solid maybe because I had planned on going back October 3. The reason for that is that one of the features for 4W's W[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] was that they would issue a voucher for something like 25% of your losses for the first week you were a member. My step-grandmother, therefore, has a voucher and is eager to go lose her money again sometime after the first of the month. However, since I didn't lose anything, 4W decided to instead send me a voucher for a free lunch buffet. Ship it. One problem, though: it expires on September 24. I tell Menace I'm now down for the 23rd, and he tells me his plans got changed and he can't make it.

If my memory served me correctly, the lunch buffet at 4W closes at 2:00 pm and they change stuff out before re-opening for dinner at 4:00. So, like an idiot, I spend entirely too much time in the "nominate greatest OOT threads for sticky here" thread this morning and discover at 1:00 that I've now got to hustle. So again I break my neck driving there, arrive at like 1:50, and discover that they've made some changes to the buffet: lunch is now $12, $15 on weekends (it had been $7); dinner is now $22, $24 on weekends (it had been $18). This would be bad except 1) I got it for free, so who cares (though that will suck on future weekends), and 2) lunch now runs until 4:00 and there was no temporary closing for changeover. New plan: kill time until 3:55, use the free lunch comp, and eat the dinner food.

Since it's an autumn Sunday afternoon, most of the TV's in the casino were showing football, which concerns me absolutely none since I'm not really an NFL fan. My concern was the FIRST-PLACE CHICAGO CUBS game that started at 2:00, and there were precious few TVs showing it . . . until I finally found one with a pretty good view from a $5 craps table. I like it.

When I arrive, there's only one other guy there, and he sevens out so I'm immediately the shooter. I would have made more on myself, except my dealer was a moron. I roll something for the point, I don't remember, maybe a 9, and ask specifically for a $6 eight, and immediately roll an eight. Okay, pay me. WTF, you put it on six? I wanted an eight. Move it please. I roll another eight, and my $6 is still sitting on six. Okay, you're a complete retard and now you've cost me $14. MOVE IT TO EIGHT NOW. PLEASE. I understand that craps is a fast-paced game, and mistakes do happen, and it's just as likely that it would be to my benefit as to my detriment, but there were only two of us at the table. It can't be that hard to keep track. Of course, I didn't actually say he was a moron/idiot/retard to his face, but when he finally moved my money to the eight I eventually rolled it again and gave him a steely-eyed stare. In the meantime, I make the other guy a ton of money when I continuously reward his dumb horn bets by hitting 11 and 12, but I only win a little; I would have won more if my dealer wasn't a total goober.

Eventually, the table fills up, and the dealers all rotate, and the guy who was the stickman came over to my side. This guy deserved a bonus. He could tell that my mind was focused on the FIRST-PLACE CHICAGO CUBS game, so he would get my attention and say things like "Hey, you forgot your odds bet." The first time he did that, I dropped it and the shooter immediately hit his point, so he made me most of the money that his idiot co-worker cost me. If I had listened to him more, I would have made more; in one instance, on a come-out roll, I placed my line bet and a $2 C&E, and the shooter rolled a yo, paying me twice. My buddy asked me if I wanted to use a cut of my winnings to press the C&E; I politely declined, and of course the shooter rolled another yo and he gave me the same you're-so-dumb look I'd given his idiot co-worker a few minutes before.

The FIRST-PLACE CHICAGO CUBS burst out to an early lead, but I was wavering between moderately ahead to slightly behind. But that changed when someone on the other side's dealer #1 spot started shooting. He rolled sixes like it was his job. He rolled an eight for his point, and I put $6 on the six. Let's count how much my awesome shooter made me: I wager $6, he hits, I book the win and get paid $7 (profit $1). He hits #2, I get paid $7 and use $6 of it to press ($1 + $1 = $2). He hits #3, I get paid $14 and press $6 of it ($2 + $8 = $10). He hits #4, I get paid $21 and press $6 ($10 + $15 = $25). He hits #5, I get paid $28 and press $6 ($25 + $22 = $47). He hits #6, I get paid $35 and press $6 ($47 + $29 = $76). He finally hits an eight for his point, and I notice I have $36 riding on the six, and holy [censored] that's a lot, so I freak out and take down $30 of it. ($76 + $30 = $106). So of course, he hits a six for a seventh time after making another point ($106 + $7 = $113). By the way, that total doesn't count the points he hit, nor the couple of times I got paid 9-1 when he rolled his sixes hard, because I started putting some money on the hard-6 when I noticed he was throwing sixes around like he was possessed by the Antichrist. He left right after his roll, and I was upset because I wanted to give him a drink or a handshake or a blow job or something, but then I remembered that somewhere in my giddiness I put $6 of my own money ON HIM to hit that six, and he did, so he got a little bit of money from me in addition to whatever he profitted on his own from his hot roll. Here's to ya.

Since I was in the #1 spot on the other side, I shot right after him, and it was a tough act to follow. I wiped out in pretty short order, took ten whites for later pokering, colored up the ginormous amount of red $5 chips I had, and tossed the rest of my loose $1 chips to the crew. If I had my druthers I would have stuck those directly into the pocket of the good dealer I had, but alas, tokes are all split. Hey, guy, if you're reading this, I DEFINITELY owe you a beer. It turned out that I had exactly 40 red chips, for a total profit of $110. Booyah. I had just enough time to check out the poker room to see how the action was going, and it was dead. D-E-D, dead. Dead, dead, deadski. There were three tables, and they were all 1/2 NL. Ugh. Over lunch I thought about whether or not I wanted to stay and play 1/2 NL again, which I didn't really want to do because I didn't bring a budget-busting bankroll and didn't want to have one hand send me home. On the other hand, I did want to check out Resorts again to see if their room still sucked. I ate my truly distressing amount of prime rib and a plate of blue cheese dressing garnished with a little salad, and decided to take one more look at the e-poker room before going somewhere else. I arrived and discovered that a 3/6 limit table finally opened, with three old ladies at it. Well, hell, this will probably be the easiest money within an hour's drive.

I put $90 on my card, for absolutely no reason since I was never going to accomplish a 15-BB challenge. I guess I'm just used to doing $90. I immediately get positive results when my first hand is 88 and I flop a set and begin driving one of the nice ladies to Valuetown, except I dropped her off on Fourth Street when the river brought four to the obvious straight and I missed a value bet. I notice that Jeff is here; he was at the table with Menace and me during my infamous blowup hand, providing necessary vouching when I took my turn telling my bad-beat story about the assclown who runner-runnered me in the worst possible way. Two of the old ladies go broke relatively quickly; the third was the one who lost to my set, and she agreed to bail when the other two got cranky and wanted to leave. Well, there goes that; now there's five of us left, and everyone else looks like they're at least halfway decent at poker. I wait until the ladies are out of earshot, then tell the table that I'm bailing now that the easy money has left. The poker host overhears me and says "I wouldn't do that if I were you." I look up and he silently nods in the direction of the cashier cage, where a fairly husky gentleman is depositing. "I don't know him," I said. "I do," he replied, winking. Well, good Lord, it looks like it's a knock-down drag-out over the Employee Of The Month Award. Fine, I'll stay, but since I've already logged off I'll catch a break first. In the meantime, I discover that the FIRST-PLACE CHICAGO CUBS sealed their win in emphatic fashion by an 8-0 score, and Milwaukee also lost, which means that the FIRST-PLACE CHICAGO CUBS magic number is now 4.

When I come back I notice I had $119. How did I do after that? I'll tell you tomorrow; I'm tired and I'm going to bed. SPOILER: It all fell to hell. But you probably knew that already.
