Meh. Kinda gimmicky and long-winded the way tufat said it. Don't say you were in front of your mirror trying it out. You don't want her to think you're thinking about her already...

Just come in with your regular cut, greet her, grab a strand of your hair, say something like "i was never any good at the whole hair thing, think i'm going to need your help there...". Take it from there and aks her for coffee, obviously.
