Another story from Tech:

A Campus Crusade member we are in contact with there says he was in a classroom and the man came in. He said he shot the professor 4 times, shot a girl in the neck, then shot a girl in the eye. He then stepped outside the room to reload. When he did that, the guy we know and 20 others ran away. They got away unharmed. Some of the students, however, chose to stay in the room and play dead. Apparently he went back in the room and shot every person on the floor.

Again, this is a story I heard through a friend who has a contact in Crusade at Tech.

I'm at UVA and this is quite shocking. There are tons of people from my hometown at Tech and a girl I went to highschool with was interviewed on CNN earlier. I am feeling quite sick about all of this.

I was thinking about whether canceling classes would have even done much. I think there would have been a second incident regardless of whether students were in classrooms or in dorms. I am not trying to defend what (at this time) appears to be a slow response/mishandling of the situation by Tech, but if he was a student he would have access to dorms as well and I don't see how a second incident would have been prevented with the gunman still at large.

I think this is what some of the replies that were deemed 'tasteless' or 'inappropriate' were hinting at. Some of us have had things put into perspective, the hard way, a long time ago.
