Re: College Football Week 13
[ QUOTE ]
That fat guy kicking the 60 yard fg for FSU just made the single ugliest fg I've ever seen. Wow. [/ QUOTE ] Interesting stuff on long field goals. http://www.mindspring.com/~luckyshow...0or%20more.htm I had no idea they used kicking tees for FGs in college up until and including most of the 1980's. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] God I love NCAA football. (Tennessee fan) [/ QUOTE ] This exciting finish has Div I-AA to thank. Hopefully the NFL will copy soon too. [/ QUOTE ] I thought it was terrible. The game continued for almost an hour after the 4th quarter. That just doesn't seem ok to me. The DL was standing up on each snap, there was little to no push almost on every play. It wasn't football to me, because football includes all 11 players playing at a high level and that just doesn't happen in OT #3+. [/ QUOTE ] I agree, it's basically who can stop a 2 point convo first since td's at that point are almost a given. I would make it a tie after 2 OT's. [/ QUOTE ] I don't follow college football very closely, and I would expect defenses to be tired and the offense to have the advantage, but is it really as extreme as these 2 OT games make it seem? The ball on the 25 in OT seems like the ball on the 5 in regulation. |

I think that it was better when there were ties.

Re: College Football Week 13
If they want a decisive result quickly, instead of starting on the 25 just go straight to 2 point conversions. Or do what they do now for the first 2 overtimes, then after that decide it by 2 point conversions.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Food for thought: Michigan is #2 in the Big Ten (Capital One Bowl) LSU loses to Tennessee in the SEC Championship and finishes #2 in the SEC? [/ QUOTE ] I would imagine Illinois gets picked over scUM and possibly other teams. [/ QUOTE ] But don't bowls have contracts and are obligated to take the #2 team regardless of who it is? [/ QUOTE ] How is Michigan #2 over Illinois? [/ QUOTE ] They both finished with 2 conference losses and Michigan beat Illinois. Am I missing something here? |

[/ QUOTE ] That would be correct but it matters very little for bowl purposes. Selling tickets and getting ratings matter more, and this year Michigan is not expected to do that well (at least as compared to Wisconsin/Illinois). They can't pick a team more than 1 game behind another though, so we'd have to get picked ahead of PSU or anyone else (I don't think anyone other than Wisconsin is 5-3 in league). So I'd guess Illinois to the Citrus, Wiscy to the Outback, Mich to the Alamo and PSU to the Champs. |

Re: College Football Week 13
This is for all of you that want a playoff:
Obviously, the parenthesis show that Oklahoma will play Ohio State's semifinal game for them. This is pretty much it at this point as there's no way in hell that Pitt can beat WVU, and nothing else can throw this picture off track. |
