[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] At least he's still the greatest video game running back of all time. [/ QUOTE ] I don't know...I think Christian Okoye was just as bad ass when he was in excellent condition. [/ QUOTE ] Edit: Nevermind I found a video where Okoye just knocked everyone over a million times. Could Okoye do this? http://youtube.com/watch?v=hAAgfY_NHzw [/ QUOTE ] I lol'd |

Re: ***SSNL LIFE THREAD NOV***
Anyway, no scotch talk for a while, so...
Bought some Macallan single malt a few weeks ago and I do not rate it one bit. Had some Glenfiddich at a restaurant the other day and it was awesome. Still love Dalwhinnie, though Glenfiddich would probably be my second favourite atm. |

(sorry - don't quite get the terminology). You didn't like it? I'm actually quite a big fan - working on my second bottle of cask strength still. Spicy at first, but very nice once you get used to how spicy / robust it is. GlenF special reserve is good for a cheap, daily drinker. No complaints there. |

Re: ***SSNL LIFE THREAD NOV***
Yeah Macallan are all single malt afaik. I bought the 12yr old fine oak. Yeah I didn't like it, like you said it's very spicy/robust...doesn't go down smooth enough for my tastes.
I've never drunk really really expensive scotch, I only spend up to $100 a bottle. Thoughts on Dalwhinnie? |

I love Dalwhinnie, although my mate says it's for women and vicars.
The doublewood version is really good. |

Re: ***SSNL LIFE THREAD NOV***
I think I've got a bad case of seasonal affective disorder. Winter is so depressing.

Re: ***SSNL LIFE THREAD NOV***
Talking about emo and whiskey, my ex brought me some of the bottles I left behind in our old apartment. I've got a Macallan 12y, Oban double barrel and a Glenfiddich special reserve waiting for me to drown my sorrows. What's your play - switch them around from time to time or keeping to one bottle until it's finished?

Very smooth / mellow. Perhaps because it does't fully take up the flavor of either wood??? Actually though, thanks to this thread (and perhaps you Cue), I tried Laphroaig <sp>. Very nice for the price. Until I'd tried it, I didn't care for smokey / petey flavored scotch, however it's helped me change my tune. As far as the Mac Fine Oak series - they used to be some of my favorites. Very light / smooth / easy to drink. However, recently I've really been into heavier offerings (like the Mac Cask Str). Maybe it's a seasonal thing like Keysers depression. |

Keep meaning to try the Japanese whiskys but never get around to it (made by Suntori if IIRC???). On the mixing it up front - I'm all for switching between during drinking sessions. It really helps me to compare and contrast as long as I drink a little water to clense the palete between drinks. BTW - If anyone here is in the Bay Area (SF particularly) and likes whiskey, Nihon Whiskey Lounge on 14th and Folsom is supposed to be a sweet little spot. Keep meaning to try it but never quite get around to it. |
