Cantona was hated by alot of people when he played (moreso before his ban for Kung Fu) because he was a smug, arrogant douche for the most part on the pitch. His interviews were enough to make you want to slap him.

Cantona is now very well respected because everyone can see what an absolute footballing genius he was. This is the same as Ferguson, who is hated by alot of people for his interviews, demeanour etc. (One interview where he accused Chelsea of intimidating refs made me laugh for like an hour straight). He's an excellent manager but he's a complete tosser no doubt.

Villa is not my favorite team but I like them. I think Carew is class albeit over the hill now and Gareth Barry is excellent. Plus I am from Cleveland so the Art Lerner angle intrigues me. If only O'Neill was a Republican instead of from the North.
