Re: VH1\'s \"The Pick up Artist\"
brinks,
"You guys so dont get what i'm saying" I understand exactly what you're saying. I just disagree. Something like "Hey, are you guys drinking cosmos? Yes. OK, quick question for you - do you think it's sorta gay if a guy drinks cosmos at a bar?" is going to work just fine. "I have seen this happen to my wings and had it happen to me as well, without using canned mystery openers." That probably has more to do with you guys than the show. Do you guys stick to a script and make sure you do things like get a "false time constraint" in the first part of the conversation? |

However, after the premier of this show, I have had at least 15-20% of sets respond with "isnt that from the Pickup Artist?" during some phase of the interaction, even though I was positive that it wasnt. I knew that it did have some of the same feel as Mystery's material, BUT I WROTE IT!! [/ QUOTE ] What material are you *actually* using that's getting "VH1 Pick Up" comments? Btw, if the show is popular enough, you'll get those kind of comments if you say ANYTHING b/c it gives women a topical way to screen men. Also, it sounds like you need to either have a VH1 Pick Up artist routine or routine stack if it's coming up 20% of the time. As I'm sure you already know, the material isn't what picks up, it's mainly body language and attitude anyway. There are no magic lines that work 100% of the time, and there aren't lines that never work. PM me if you don't want to post specific stuff in here. Yugoslav |

Re: VH1\'s \"The Pick up Artist\"
I used the "you guys act like best friends" routine on these 2 girls a few months before the show aired. My 'target' actually called me out on it, "hey wait isn't that line from that book about pick up artists? Are YOU a pickup artist?"
It's pretty easy to dodge that bullet, I just turned the tables by saying, "You read a book about pickup artists? Are you trying to seduce me or something?" I eventually closed her. /brag Anyways, openers are pretty easy. Even if they sort of know what you're up to, or have watched the Pickup Artist, girls still WANT to play the game. As long as you are a fun, spontaneous guy, they'll give you the time of day even if they do suspect you might be up to some shenanigans. |

Re: VH1\'s \"The Pick up Artist\"
Slightly OT: I'm just curious if there is a way to save the episodes that you can load from vh1.com/vspot to your harddisc. I tried fraps but it didn't work.

Besides, women are looking for guys to talk to them, [/ QUOTE ] Its funny, but I think that most people arguing here are not realizing this. Its like you guys are arguing over ways to "trick" women into talking with you. |

I think for me there are some lengths you can go to pick up girls, just like making money, that simply aren't worth it. If I can't meet someone as myself, if I have to rely on some kind of parlor trick that pushes the buttons of hot girls with self-esteem issues, it's not worth it. I'm a pretty weird dude, but every now and then in life I meet my weird match and we have a cool connection. I wouldn't want to kill that chance, however remote, by acting from a script. [/ QUOTE ] I'm reading Mystery's book, <u>The Mystery Method</u> , and it seems like a lot of the stuff would indeed work. However, just thinking about lying to girls like that is repulsive to me. I don't want to become someone else, and make someone like that person. I like myself, and I hate the kind of guys that act the way mystery does. Also, I'm holding out hope that I will meet someone who is my "weird match", and THAT girl would sooner gnaw off her own arm than get trapped by a PUA douchebag. Basically, I like myself, and I think I have some good qualities that women would find highly desirable. I don't want to change. I just need to figure out a way to make a more genuine impression with girls, instead of being nervous and misunderstood. |
