he shouldnt be banned imo. at least he is providing some info that can be helpful. ignorging the bot problem is a bad policy.

[/ QUOTE ]I disagree.I think Mike has been more than willing to let him speak,probably more patient than than 99% of us wouldve been.But you are wrong,after two weeks of attacking the forums daily,it is clear that he is providing absolutely no helpful information.He has not shown any interest in any meaningful debate or exchange of ideas.He is clearly on a propaganda mission here.And although he has avoided being banned for spamming by only occasionally slipping his website discreetly into the conversation it is obvious what his goals are.Banning him for three days for the reasons Mike stated seems to me to be more than appropriate especially when added with the other more subtle spamming techniques he has been using.To suggest this action is someway akin to "ignoring the bot problem" is absurd.

This kind of logic is on par with Ray Bornert.

This thread is titled "Bots in Party Poker's 6-max Limit games" and had 100 replies before Bornert popped up. No one is ignoring the bot problem. What are you talking about?

He has provided NO info at all on the bot problem. Point out one credible thing that Bornert has said that helps us understand the problem or detect bots. He is a troll who's peddling his sites and appealing to losers with his bizarre ethics. Even if he had provided credible sounding information, not a bit of it can be trusted. The guy is a liar and a thief, and more than a bit crazy. He's the last place I'd get information on the bot problem.

Phil, while it may be true that the bot problem is not being ignored... there have been many bot threads over the last year+... the Poker Sites are clearly not doing all that they can to stop their proliferation.

Some of the problems with the way the sites police things now, include...

AI = OK
Automation = OK
AI+Automation = Not OK... but how do you tell?

Poker Client = OK
AIM,etc = OK
Poker Client + AIM = Trouble, but no one is policing?

Hand History = OK & necessary
Datamining = ???
Shared Database = Not OK... but how do you tell?

While there is clearly something wrong with Ray saying, since someone is doing this stuff and you don't want to be disadvantaged, therefore you should do it too... its really the poker sites that need to step up to the plate and do more!

So exactly how are we to stop bots if we dont try to extract some info from these posters ?

The clients ARE turning a blind eye to bots , and I do believe some are actively encouraging them ,full tables + rake + no complaints = good news for clients.

So the onus is on the online poker playing public to do something here , the clients will not do it until they are severly pushed and even then they only carry out token gestures.
So I say lets these guys post , eventually they will slip information which may be useful .
Take the example where big business software companies actively employ hackers to test their security , this comes from realizing that they cannot defeat the hackers without trying to understand their methods.

I still think the idea of an independent data analysis service providing free info to people in the game is a good option. The sites wouldn't have any choice but to crack down because they would be exposed if they allowed bots in the game. And using a number of the techniques mentioned in this thread would catch A LOT of botters.

so if i understand this correctly you're going to attempt
to get the state of georgia to help you police the terms
and conditions for an online poker site in gibraltar due
to the fact that you're not satisfied with the ability of
party poker to give you what you want?

you're practically making my point for me.
