Swindled? C'mon. I guarantee one of the appeals for a large portion of early iphone buyers was that they would be the owners of a cool looking product that a large portion of the population could not afford. I'm not accusing you of being one of those people, but I'm not sympathetic towards people who spent money on an obviously overpriced status symbol. Your iphone is not as cool anymore now that a lot more people can afford it. Get over it and lineup overnight to buy the next overpriced gadget so you can show that off to everyone else. [/ QUOTE ] All perfectly valid points. Here was my entire thought process of iPhone purchase on launch day. - current cellphone was nearly unuseable. - never owned any iPod before. * taking several plane trips, wanted portable video player - already had AT&T - always wanted constant internet connection in hand. - did not want a large PDA style phone. There was obviously a flashy cool factor. No way to deny that. My purchase was mainly based on functionality for the reasons I listed above. I cant deny first week, "Hey you got an iPhone?" "Indeed, check it out." It did happen at my office. Thought that was really just one day. The flashyness wore off for me same week. I wanted to put this to use. I use the phone quite a bit. The google functionality to google-local and the maps feature has been useful over the past few months. The web access has been ok, even though edge is really balls slow. Of course I knew there would be an eventual price drop. I figured with new technology, esp since the phone is all flash memory, it would not be till basically Xmas. So by that case I was planning to get screwed out of $200 any ways. I figured the extra cash I put down would be to use it because I figured the drop would not happen for at least 6 months. I also figured the drop would be like $100. Imagine you bought a slick very new HDTV model and then see the price got cut 33% in the same time. 33% price drop in 10 weeks is simply one nice solid kick to the nuts. Thats the best way to put it. Esp when you make the piss salary I do. ME = BEAT! Let the rain pour. |

DKS: I also didn't like the touch keyboard. I text way slower on the iphone than my current basic phone (SLVR). [/ QUOTE ] I can text a lot faster on my iphone than I could on my old razr. However I can't text at all when I'm walking, I always have to stop. That sucks. |

Apple releases statement. Any orginal $599 iPhone buyer will get a $100 apple store credit [/ QUOTE ] That's pretty cool that Apple did this. They really didn't have to do so. |
