yeah, the 36 year old with a career 4.91 ERA is going to save the Yankee bullpen. But he's been good in 13 innings!

And Proctor, 29 years old with a career ERA over 5, was for real early in the year and is just going through a "slump." Must be nice living in your fantasy land.

[/ QUOTE ]

you made posts last year talking about how the yankees were done and their pitching sucked. They used 14 pitchers and still beat the Sox out for the division, even being down 7.5 games at one point in early summer.

You really think that the Red Sox will win the division? I'm curious.

[/ QUOTE ]

Find my post last year that stated the Yanks were done.

I think the Sox have a decent chance to win the division - about as good as the Yanks.

um, why wouldnt timlins 'replacement' be foulke, and his replacement be tavarez/riske....?

delcarmen will be the last guy out of the pen, but whatever. as usual, lets not let facts get in the way of dumb posts.

timlin has averaged .4 innings per game so far this season. his DL stint is 15 days which equates to about ~12 more games or 4.8 innings they have to 'replace'. im sure foulke and papelbon can split the huge 5 innings they need to pick up.

clearly the recipe for late inning struggles.

Sublime, please quit making thses predicitons. You're jinxing the shiit out of us.

[/ QUOTE ]

He made that post when the score was 5-3 and Crawford was up. Therefore, I say he saved us, rather than jinxed us. Still seemed like strange timing.

Hey new guy,

Stop acting like we Red Sox fans care about who wins the division. The Yankees won the division in '04, didn't they? Lately, that's all they've been able to win, so let's not spoil their sense of accomplishment.

[/ QUOTE ]

I would much rather win the division than not. And if Yankee fans want to get a sense of accomplishment they should try not to be abject morons about everything.

It's one thing to want your team to win with a ferocity that gives your wife that "Why did I marry this retard again?" look and another thing entirely to think that guys like Scott Proctor, Rudy Seanez, and Jim Leyritz are giant flaming suckmonkeys just because they wear the right jersey.

I was pretty much trying to think of a Sox player who unequivocably sucked. On further reflection, I would like to submit the name of Mike Benjamin in that role, not because he was any good but because I have never hated a Red Sox player more.

Some people thought Leyritz was good. I thought he was a penis in a hat who didn't have a defensive position and couldn't hit.

Why would anyone have concern with Papelbon throwing 90 plus innings? Having been groomed for the past few years as a starter, I don't expect the innings to be an issue with him at all. I think you'll likely see more 2 inning outings from him and Foulke while Timlin is down. Foulke is on pace for 85 innings or so, which is right where he was from 99-04.

Additionally, I think Riske could plug the gap nicely in the 6th and 7th innings if he's healthy. He's a guy that had a sub-1.00 WHIP two of the last three years.

Timlin has been great this year, but I think they can get through the next two weeks fine in the bullpen. I'm not a big Delcarmen fan, but he is the 6th option out there right now, so I don't expect to see him pitching in any big spots.
