Mostly good old-fashioned moralizing, combined with force of will. I can really get behind that.

tdarko,

Give me a break. Cardo trainwrecked himself in this thread. It is pretty much an epic meltdown.

Basically, it comes down to: I need to learn how to ignore people who are being dicks. Trying to deal with dicks makes me into a dick. In nearly a quarter of a century I have yet to figure this out.

cardo,

I think El D made a post a while back about getting rich through google advertising. I tried it, and by trying it I mean I went to google, clicked the ad link and figured out that I wasn't smart enough to figure it out. You should chop it up. I'm being mostly serious.

Few notes:

rocketlaunch,

He probably doesn't. For all his genius he tends to be obtuse to some of this stuff. FWIW I do think Cardo is pretty smart, in some specific ways that don't manifest themselves in terms of "common sense" or "plays well with others".

Cardo,

"Basically, it comes down to: I need to learn how to ignore people who are being dicks. Trying to deal with dicks makes me into a dick. In nearly a quarter of a century I have yet to figure this out"

This is good, step 2 is not taking things so personally and not assuming people are being dicks in the first place. Specifically I think you'd find a long list of people who would tell you that DaveR is a very nice (allbeit sarcastic guy). You've decided he's an [censored] because you just refuse to acknowledged that no matter how valid your own wants and desires may be, they're pretty comical to most folk.

It's like, I dig One Tree Hill, but I sure as [censored] expect the rest of my peer group to judge me for liking a [censored] teenage drama. You wanna live your live your way, but you gotta understand that for the vast majority of people are going to think you're out to lunch. You simply can't present some radical position and then get defensive about it to the point that it's impossible for the discussion to continue.

tdarko,

People care about Cardo, I know I do. He's just an amazingly frustrating person. If this was just some random douche, I wouldn't have invested 10% of the time I have in this thread. When you're trying to help somebody that you care about, and you're repaid with insults, you get pretty damn punchy.
