Just picked up an app for a Starbucks which a friend referred me to the manager. There are 2 employees behind the counter. I ask one of them if I could speak with the manager, and as she goes into the backroom the other employee says "If you want a free drink, now's the time." I figured it was a special or something so I ordered my summer usual. After I talk with the (very beautiful) manager, and she returns to the backroom, I am again alone with the barista and curiosity gets the better of me and ask "Why is it free?" He quickly looks behind his shoulder and then says "Because no one is looking?" So I think to myself "hmmm" and put a few bucks in the tip jar thingy, effectively giving myself merely a discount on the drink.

Am I a very bad person?

100% standard in any [censored] customer-service job. you did what you were supposed to do by tipping a couple bucks. everyone's a winner.

edit: link, you strike me as one of those hopelessly oblivious straight guys, but was the barista cute? did he make any lingering eye contact? smile excessively? have a c.o.c.k. ring?
