God, wtf is wrong with people.
Obviously the incident is a tragedy, but hours after and even before all the details come out people are ejaculating their politics and agendas into everything. OMG we need more gun control! OMG we need less gun control! OMG Fox News sucks! OMG Darfur! Do we really need all that RIGHT NOW? (or ever) |

[ QUOTE ] One thing I have to say: There's alot of hate in here for officials not cancelling classes after the first shooting. Now for me, if I heard people were shot on campus and did not hear definite proof that the suspect was captured, I'M NOT GOING TO SCHOOL! I think the official act of cancelling classes is redundant at that point. Of course, that being said, the people in charge had to shut down the dorms to make sure no one got in to shoot more people. That's where they [censored] up, not the class cancelling thing. [/ QUOTE ] The problem is that we weren't even warned until the 2nd shooting had already started. Forget people who live on campus, half of the student body lives off campus and doesn't have time to check their e-mail after, say, 9am. The second that a shooting was reported on campus, there should have been an e-mail out saying so. [/ QUOTE ] Ah, I see now, thanks. |

wow all of you playing the sensitivity/morality police really need to get over yourselves.
this type of thing affects people differently obviously. some it really upsets, others not so much, usually when compared to other events in the world in their mind. of course someone could choose to not be a dick and post stuff that is obviously inflammatory towards people that are really upset. but some of the things people have been bitched at for saying in this thread are fine, and attacking them is pretty ridiculous. |

Yeah, give everyone a gun, then our lives will be like in those western movies, everything being decided by the way of the gun. Great fkin idea. [/ QUOTE ] The shooting at the Appalachian School of Law was stopped by a student with a gun. |

Is it weird that I feel far more affected by this than 9/11? [/ QUOTE ] No, this is actually pretty normal. You probably relate to the situation more and it seems much more "real" to you. Personally I am shocked and devastated by this tragedy. Hopefully the kids at VT campus and the victim's families can recover from this. Even though I am somewhat ignorant of the facts at this point, I have a feeling we will see a large public negative reaction to the way VT handled this situation. |
