I think I got this from the circuit or here but Laak isn't much of a player at all apparently, and gets TV coverage because of his looks and antics rather than his play. I believe he's even admitted himself on the circuit that his usual cash game is 50/100 no limit at the commerce, doesn't sound like a high roller to me. I hope he's not a nit.

I expect Mike to go busto and ask DN for a loan in which he refuses! haha

The best moment Chan had was when he was rockin out on the chair and facing the camera.

But you ignore the obvious fact that the tv time he gets is from final tables he makes?

Listen to the interview more carefully. Phil Laak said he only plays NL cash games.

And 50/100 NL is pretty big, I think. Watch LATB. And if you have seen the LATB episode with Laak, he played pretty well for a supposive celebrity player.

The reason Chan wasn't playing many hands is because he had DN behind him making it a fortune for him to see any hand. How many times did Chan do something then DN reraise him ? Almost every time it seemed.

negreanu considers laak to be one of the overrated players including dutch boyd. laak and antonio tho came up destroying the high NL games at the bay. i don't think laak is that bad but he has a lot fame for someone who hasn't won anything significant.
