Re: check behind or bet for value?
I'm sorry Baluga but you sound like the perfect opponent to set mine against.

Re: check behind or bet for value?
Oh yeah, as to your original question.
Against a calling station bet the turn, bet the river. Against a tricky/aggro, check the turn, bet/call the river. Against a weak/tighty, bet the turn, check the river. |

Re: check behind or bet for value?
Haha. Jim, I definitely got a laugh out of that.
I raise the flop here not just cause I want hands like QJ and J9 to pay to draw, but also AT and JT. If a J peeled off, I'd be in a weird spot on this hand. I raise QQ/JJ in this spot because I'm still somewhat likely to have the best hand, and because I don't want somebody with a draw/air to be able to push me off hands I raise pf. I'd like people to fear that I have AA every time I raise. This is also a play I generally only make in position. My old full ring stats were something like 28/13, although I think I'm more suited to 6-max. I don't have enough hands on 6-max, but if I had to guess, I'd say I'm 30/25 or something like that. |

Re: check behind or bet for value?
I can't play like this I always spew when I do.
I do like to play against players who play like this (not meant as a criticism of you but rather simply that I enjoy playing against players who are very aggressive on the flop). |

Re: check behind or bet for value?
I'm checking behind on that turn because it costs me less against hands that already have me beat, earns me more against made hands that I beat (i.e., the ones that would fold turn but now are going to call a bet on the river), and earns me about the same against draws if villain bluffs with a missed draw most of the time.

Are people really donking the flop a lot with weak hands in these games? If so.. kudos to them. [ QUOTE ] I raise QQ/JJ in this spot because I'm still somewhat likely to have the best hand, and because I don't want somebody with a draw/air to be able to push me off hands I raise pf. [/ QUOTE ] You're going to be raising with so much crap PF, that this strategy seems very very expensive to me. [ QUOTE ] I'd like people to fear that I have AA every time I raise. [/ QUOTE ] Nobody is going to buy this. You're raising 25% of your hands for chrissakes. You're going to get looked up an awful lot, and you're just bloating the pot. [ QUOTE ] This is also a play I generally only make in position. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, hard to raise a lead OOP. =P [ QUOTE ] My old full ring stats were something like 28/13, although I think I'm more suited to 6-max. Something like 80% [/ QUOTE ] OMG ME TOO So what do you typically do if you raise pf on the button with JJ, get one caller, the flop comes down KT8r, and villain leads into you. Raise? Fold? Call? Miraculous fourth option? |
