Re: who wins the NL MVP?
[ QUOTE ]
Pujols vs Howard was at worst a toss up? From a pure stats point of view Howard was better in many categories. [/ QUOTE ] No, it wasn't very close at all. |

Re: who wins the NL MVP?
Pujols was better in every offensive stat, was a much better defender and his team made the playoffs, the only edge Howard had was 70 more PAs.

Re: who wins the NL MVP?
The whole playoff thing is pretty dumb imo. Makes it a team award.

Howard had more homeruns and more RBIs which is 2/3's of the triple crown. Pujols batting average was better but by less of a margin than Howard's homeruns/RBIs. And who is to say that if Pujols played as many games as Howard, that his average wouldn't have suffered? (Why did And defense? How many MVPs have gone to ppl for great defense? That's what the Gold Glove is for. |

Re: who wins the NL MVP?
[ QUOTE ]
Holliday should win it, unfortunately Rollins probably will despite being #2 MVP on his own team. [/ QUOTE ] If Tulo couldn't beat Rollins for a Gold Glove, there's no way Holliday beats Rollins for MVP. Tulo's superiority over Rollins in the defensive department was a more clear cut argument than what you can make re the MVP. Typical east coast voter bias. Hell, if Rollins were a Met, we wouldn't even be having this discussion -- the MVP vote would be unanimous, even if the Mets still choked their way out of making the playoffs. |
