I am still not sold on the Pats. All the teams they have played so far rank at the bottom of the league for defense, so putting up 30+ every game is not that special. Dallas is going to be the first team they play this year that has any semblance of defense.

Defensively they have been impressive however. Holding the Bengals to under 20 is very good (though they were one idiotic miscommunication between Chad Johnson and Carson Palmer away from getting at least 20).

So just based on strength of schedule I have to put the Colts above the Pats. This weekend will be the test.

I also include Dallas in the top class list.

care to make a wager? I'll take NE +3 @ Dallas.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why do so many people in this forum think that just because someone predicts an upset that they will want to bet on it at odds/lines worse than are available in the market?

[/ QUOTE ]

I haven't seen any actual lines for the Dallas-NE game yet.

[/ QUOTE ]

Neither have I, but there is basically zero chance that the Pats open +3.

[/ QUOTE ]

wanna bet?

honestly, responses like this, where somebody says "there's basically zero chance of xxxx happening" are why people throw out bets. b/c when challenged to put money where your mouth is, people will often back down from outlandish (or dumb) comments they make. that's kind of fun to see, and maybe it also helps keep the # of dumb comments down.

re: this specific line, I predicted the Pats would be -5 or so in this thread yesterday. Artdog replied "roughly a 0% chance that it will be higher than pats-3"

So, according to Artdog there is a "roughly 0% chance" that the Pats will be higher than -3, and according to you there is "basically zero chance" the Pats open up as low as +3. so, who is completely out of their mind? is it so outlandish of me to throw out -3?

basically, my nit is people throwing around "basically zero chance" when it's actually "some real chance"

[/ QUOTE ]

I'll bet you up to $100 on the opening line not being Pats +3 of higher.

Pats plus 3 and you win.

What book you want to use to settle this?

Neither of them since there's a 6-point difference between +3 and -3?

I think the Pats will open up higher, like I said -5 or so. my nit was you saying "there's basically zero chance they open up at -3". so if you want to give me 100-1 odds on the line opening up at -3, sure I'll bet $100.

If TNM doesn't want to give you 100-1 odds, then I will. I only have 9K online right now though, so the most we can bet is $90. If the Pats get +3 or higher on Pinnacle, you win 9K, if it's +2.5 or lower I win $90. Let me know who want to escrow with.

Personally, I like Pitt at 3, but we'll have to see how Dallas looks tonight.

Also, I think NYG and SD will be into the 2nd tier within a week or two.

Assani,

Leaving Indy and NE alone at the top is fine for right now IMO. Some of these other teams in the league may be in the class of Indy or NE but we won't know that until proven--Dallas will get its chance next week and obv Pitt will get its chance this year.

I liked Tenn somewhat at the beginning of the year, reluctantly picked them in my survivor pool this week--but each week they make me think less and less of them. 5 TO's, a bad QB and lucky they were playing a worse QB and worse team yesterday. They play any other team minus maybe Miami and they lose--that isn't a good win, that is escaping a porous team.

I remember all the hype on Vince last year and yea he had some good games but there were some games in which he was getting some undue credit. Last year against the Jags he had like 80 yards passing and 5 yards rushing and the Titans didn't score an offensive TD but made a great comeback scoring defensive and special teams td's. That night all the highlights were talking about how Vince willed the team to victory and how he just knows how to win blah blah blah. Point is, I think their luck is about to run out. They play like they did Sunday this week against the Bucs and they don't have a chance at winning.
