By the way, I've been talking to lacky on AIM now for a while but if anyone else has any wisdom about going pro they'd like to share, I'm all ears.

I'll steal from JSH - don't let your schedule get too out of whack from the rest of the world (I usually set an alarm b/n 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. though I don't abide by it 100% of the time), work out on a regular basis, put in hours consistently while still taking advantage of the freedom/flexibility the job affords you. "Gee, that sounds like a great weekend plan but I was hoping to stay home and play poker," are not words that should be coming out of your mouth unless you really don't want to do said plan and are grasping at an excuse. And if you consistently put in some hours every day you're at home, it won't be that big of a deal to miss a day or two entirely.

i'd make a bit of exercise and/or fresh air a part of your daily your routine. if i break up my poker sets with internet/tv when i go back to play my next set my head is pretty much numb. then just set a goal for hours you want to play a month and try to get in that general range each month.

I'm a terrible pro. But I love the life style. Take advantage of the freedoms it affords you, otherwise it's not worth it. If you don't feel like playing, you probably shouldn't.

Take if fwiw from someone that has played 6.4k hands online this month.

No matter how good you are or invincible you feel, things will get really bad at some point. Make sure you have plenty of BR and plenty of focus. If you're not getting better, you're getting worse.
