Re: MTT\'ers... what is your edge?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] What do most players in, say, the daily 100k on stars understand about poker? I assume that almost all of them have a reasonable understanding about PF hand strengths, will make positional considerations, pushbotting strategies, understand the different between a steal/value raise. That a lot of them understand the concept and math behind resteals. They realize the power of aggression and use it to at least some extent. They will pick up on obvious abusing of their blinds, and other easy 'reads'. Does this sound reasonable or am I giving them too much credit? [/ QUOTE ] lol, have you ever played the 100k? [/ QUOTE ] Several times, but not a ton. I guess I have seen some bad decisions. What about the Super Tuesday (1k) or 109r? Would you at least say those fields are strong enough that it takes more than simply not sucking to have an edge? |

Re: MTT\'ers... what is your edge?
Fearlessness and the understanding that MTTs are a long-term game that requires some fairly risky short-term actions.

Re: MTT\'ers... what is your edge?
In poker as in life, there are guys whose big skill is just to show up, basically they just need to exist and they're taken care of by the unbearable chance.
Having said that, the skill in poker is and has been obvious for decades now, I think a logic mind, a lot of work, a competitive spirit, bankroll management, how you react to adversity and some humility to keep learning to matter what are some elements that come to mind. |
