Re: My Current Earn Rate is horrible 100k+ hands

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] ron, how many tables do you play? [/ QUOTE ] Anywhere from 4-10. It depends on how many good tables I can find. I'm kinda anal about game selection. [/ QUOTE ] What do you specifically look for regarding game selection? [/ QUOTE ] My general rule is there has to be at least two huge fish. This means like two players with VPIP over 40/pfr over 15, or that I know are significant losers. Of course, there's usually several players at each table that are marginal losers. But I play a semi-nitty style (16/9) and I think I do a lot better by picking spots against LAGs than by grinding down weak-tights. I don't use table averages in PAHUD or any of those fancy table selection doohickeys in the software forum. I think the best way to see if a table is good is by opening it up and seeing if the players are good for your style of play, based on your notes and PT stats, and your experience playing against them. Table averages can be misleading because there's some good players with VPIPs over 30. Playing experience and notes are the most important thing. There's a bunch of regulars that have good-looking preflop stats, but they're terrible players, and I consider them fish. Then after I start playing, I'm constantly reevaluating my tables. I'm also opening and closing other tables all the time to see if any fish have appeared. I very rarely play more than 8 tables. Over 8 is when I start to lose track of what's going on, and I make significantly more mistakes. OTOH, I have to play at least 4. Less than 4 is excruciating. I usually make lots of stupid fancy plays and try to win every pot because I'm so bored. |
