[ QUOTE ] srsly this story has so many holes please fill in all the gaps. [/ QUOTE ]Like what? The whole thing was over in under a minute. They didn't starting reading passages from Foucault's "Discipline and Punish" or anything. [/ QUOTE ] You got the practical version. Much like just before being robbed you got the practical cliff's of Foucault's "The History of Sexuality". |

Re: Trip Report: Getting Robbed at Knifepoint.
I just reread my OP and I guess the thread would have been better with out the "trip report" in the title. The TR just carries so many expectations with it.
[ QUOTE ] How succesful was he at trying? [/ QUOTE ] I don't kiss and tell [ QUOTE ] You couldn't walk two houses down? [/ QUOTE ] OK, just to clarify, an English guy I've met casually a few times invited me to his house for dinner and drinks. His wife is Lao so I brought along a Lao friend so she wouldn't feel left out. While we're talking it starts raining incredibly hard and doesn't let up so we're forced to crash in this guy's living room. I wake up to my "friend" trying to take my pants off, grabbing my junk, and moving his mouth towards it. I decide to gtfo. |

If I ever get robbed at gunpoint I always just picture that Indiana Jones scene and laugh.

Re: Trip Report: Getting Robbed at Knifepoint.
OP u suck in pressure situations , u should have beaten your friends ass and gotten a ride home from the guy who let u stay in his house (im sure he would understand y u beat your friends ass and he might join in unless he's gay and wants to get a BJ )....and walking around at 3am in a foreign country is asking to get robbed , i wouldnt walk around in my own neighborhood alone at that time , which gives more reason why you should have informed your english friend about your situation....

Re: Trip Report: Getting Robbed at Knifepoint.
[ QUOTE ]
Wow, sounds like a really bad situation. I think the lesson here is no matter how friendly everyone seems In a foreign culture you will still always be seen as a walking ATM and an outsider. I have read many of your posts and I am very surprised at your actions seeing as you seemed like a savvy traveler. Not taking rides from strangers seems like traveling in a third world country 101. [/ QUOTE ] are you kidding, not taking rides like this is for losers, if you are living or travelling in a foreign country it is standard to get into all kinds of sticky situations so you have half decent stories to tell people. people are bored by the third photo of a temple you show them. |

Re: Trip Report: Getting Robbed at Knifepoint.
Gay guy was the Lao friend I brought with me.
Forgot to mention that they also stole the keys to my hotel room I was carrying. This has unexciting implications. edit: Someone JUST knocked on my door but it was just a chick who got the rooms mixed up. |
