I have a horrible credit rating. I just put down my parent's address as my last place of residence though. Theirs is like triple-A so I can get whatever I want. [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Not sure I understand this. Putting their address down shouldn't have any effect on your credit score. In fact, putting your name on their credit card won't have any effect anymore.

[/ QUOTE ]

I live in the UK, not US. Also my rating was trashed while in Ireland. Here they ask for your current and previous address and how long you were there and somehow work it out from that.

[/ QUOTE ]

People do this in the US when running a credit check, which is different from your credit rating, which is specific numberical score often used as part of a credit check.

Here's a FICO estimator. It was accurate with me.

Don't know mine for sure, but this thing estimated me at being 720-770.

Mine was somewhere around 695 about 3 months ago. It's probably a little lower now b/c I've tacked on significant CC debt, and had my credit checked again signing up for yet another utility.

I have a WaMu credit card (formerly Providian) and they give me my Transunion score for free every month...

"Your FICO credit score is 730
Updated on: 08/01/2007"

I was at 755 until I took out an auto loan and I've been at 730 for 4 straight months now.

I have a free two year equifax subscription from work. You'd think "Equifax Credit Watch™ Gold With 3-in-1 Monitoring" would give you your credit rating. You'd be wrong.

that estimator thinks mine is 675-725. i have more than twice my annual salary in available credit and almost no balance though, i don't know how that effects my score.
