Re: AJ in a 3bet pot (help me not frig up this river)
you likely have the best hand but have to fold to a raise if you lead, you want to keep worse draws in, you maximize value from floats - and the turn being checked through isnt too bad, youre not getting 3 streets of value anyway.

Yes my push was retarded, but it worked, so it was also a good play

I think if Villain fires the turn he is pretty strong and if we just check-call we won't get paid off on a [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Ace or Jack river. I think him 3 barreling (or even 2 barreling) with total air is pretty far fetched. I also think if we're going to check-call all the way we usually lose a stack, so we might as well CRAI and stack him the times we hit our [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Ace or Jack. The thing that makes check-calling seem good is that it gives us a chance to fold the river. I think CRAI is a viable play. |

Re: AJ in a 3bet pot (help me not frig up this river)
C/r is far superior to c/c for many reasons I have stated within the thread. If anything, c/c is a 'viable' action. Really surprised by much in this thread.
The fact that the turn has become the main point of contention seems countrerintuitive to this hand. For one thing, the turn was checked through so either c/r or c/c becomes moot. If any had been defending a b/f or b/c line then I would understand why this thread went into the direction that it did. The fact that the OP b/f the river should be where the focus is. Especially since it seemed ultra clear that his opponent had a weaker hand most of the time and a b/c line was appropriate. The chance of missing value here on a river bet with a c/c line is awful poker. He calls/shoves with so much. Infact if the OP did check this river, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if DrMagic checks behind. Obviously Op's river bet made it clear a bluff raise (even though it was terrible) was his best chance at scooping the pot. Seems like a typical case of justifying a fold with 'having 150BB and not wanting to go broke with 2nd pair'. Weak TAG thinking. |
