I corrected a typo.

As to the word, I was under the impression, and I believe from a long-ago comm. class, that the word was derived from good ole' boy's catawampus or cattywampus. I thought that accepted pronunciations were catacorner, catty-corner.

Little did I know that accepted variants are: cata-cornered, catercorner, cater-cornered, catty-corner, catty-cornered, kitty-corner, kitty-cornered.

Learn something new every day, including that Daryn actually knows what a dictionary is, and that he knows how to use it.

Yeah dude, this is one of those words that has like 12 different acceptable usages, depending on which part of the country you hail. I always said "Cata-corner" but I used to work with a real trashneck from East Texas who said "Kitty Corner" and I thought he was a jerk for doing so. Then I realized it is acceptable among those hailing from houses with wheels.

I usually just say "diagonal from," even thought that sounds kind of retarded.
