curtains:

as far as i'm concerned, ratholers are scum. if everyone played like you do, there'd be no games at all.

but since they all clearly talk to one another these days, i have to stop provoking them, since they enjoy sitting to my right now.

It's also expressly legal to fart in public, curtains. Are you proud of that behaviour as well?

Can one person try to make some articulate comments about why ratholing is evil without using the word "scum" or any other kind of derogatory term?

By the way, if everyone was a supertight rock there would be very few games also. Does that make these players scum?

Almost everyone who argues against shortstacking has arguments that are completely self-serving. Simply put, it hurts your bottomline, which is profit and to stay in your comfort zone.

I participated in this debate about a year ago, long before I ever considered shortstacking. I mentioned at the time that I thought that 99% of the arguments being made against it were illogical, well thought out and ignorant and that it almost made me want to shortstack myself if everyone was so terrified of shortstackers. In general when a certain style of playing causes an opponent such discomfort, it's probably the style you should use.

I didn't do so for a long time but then I began to do so and found it extremely enjoyable. There is a lot more action, it's relaxing, not stressful at all, there is very low varaince and I'm good at it.

Why should I have to conform to what the majority thinks is the most "enjoyable" way to play? I will not play a brand of poker that I find less interesting and entertaining because the completely legal way that I play now seems to bother a few people, almost all of whom are professional poker players that try to exploit every minute edge they can get.

curtains:

MDMA has made many posts that articulate why shortstacking is wrong - I'm too lazy to search for them. FWIW, I have no problem with players who shortstack to begin with, but do not rathole (kerpowski comes to mind).

I'm just curious why live games don't allow ratholing. Definitely seems ethical to me; why can't I do this at a casino? Next time I sit at Bellagio, I'm pulling chips off my stack when I win anything. Also curious why a site like Full Tilt would not allow players to sit back down with less than what they got up with.

It is bad for the game, pure and simple. There aren't any arguments much stronger than that, because it's a game we're talking about. Still, I don't have to like it, and I will certainly have less respect for anyone that shortstacks and ratholes.

curtains,

calling shortstacking "more interesting and entertaining" than deep stack poker is categorically wrong. You can't really argue that the decisions you are making are more interesting than the ones you are forced to when 250bb's deep.

And as to "why should i conform to what the majority thinks" emo "i hate my dad" [censored] you just spewed; it pretty much makes you seem pathetic. Your arguments for shortstacking are fine, but the other retarded crap you post along with it brings you down to the same level as everyone who calls you scum.

Are you serious? I said that I find it more interesting and entertaining. You are telling me what I am allowed to think and what does and doesn't entertain me?

Also I don't really mean interesting in the complex sense, I should have left that word out and just used entertaining.

Unfortunately the timing is bad and I will hardly be on 2+2 for the next 3 days. So just pretend I am responding in some kind of fashion when if you should insult me.
