Re: Unusual and/or disgusting beverages
while the pruno thing above is really consumed across our lands, a more conventional option is...kava
it's dried kava root that's dried and ground up, then mixed with water. the result is a gritty, muddy looking, muddy smelling drink that's kind of bitter and fould. it's drunk all over polynesia, though, because of it's slight narcotic and mellowing effect. kava |

[ QUOTE ] If you are ever in ATL, go to the World of Coke. Cool exhibits, and at the end you get to try all of these different beverages from around the world. All under the coke umbrella of course. Some of them are the grossest things in the world, and i can't understand how people buy them. Some are pretty cool though. [/ QUOTE ] Beverly. Ugh. [/ QUOTE ] It was like carbonated water except with bitter-residue all over the place. |

Re: Unusual and/or disgusting beverages
[ QUOTE ]
El Diablo, Fernet is an Argentine liquor. I've never seen a mint version of it but I'm sure it exists. Edit: Apparently it was invented in Italy but Argentina is by far its biggest consumer. Also apparently the U.S. version is slightly bastardized and does not contain opiates. [/ QUOTE ] We have quite a few Argentinian riverguides here in Italy. Their favourite drink is Fernet and coke. Seriously disgusting. |

Re: Unusual and/or disgusting beverages
Anyone had Kvass (Fermented Bread)? It's mentioned a lot in Russian novels; I've always wondered what it tastes like.

Keep trying it and eventually it is the greatest thing ever. |

kava [/ QUOTE ] Drink at your own risk. I try to order Cynar (artichoke liqueur) at any nice Italian restaurant I go to. It tastes great on the rocks with a wedge of lemon. |

Re: Unusual and/or disgusting beverages
I like to order durian shakes every time I have pho. Tastes great but stinks up the joint.
When I was young I had some kind of warm drink with crackers in it. It almost came back out. |
