Above posters covered the good ones:

- mojito
- caipirinha

Rum mixes really well with any citrus type drink. Girls seem to love pineapple juice + rum (typically something like coconut rum though).

One surprisingly good mix is apple juice + rum. A friend offered it to me and I thought it would be terrible, but for some reason the 2 blend perfectly and it just tastes like you're drinking apple juice.

A good friend of mine also used to do the rum+root beer mix, which was pretty good.

Rum and hot chocolate isn't bad.

Raspberry rum and lemonade is great.

Gosling and ice.

Besides coke is there anything (cold) you can mix black rum with?

Not that you need to if it's good...

I occasionally enjoy a drink called a Captain's Blood that calls for dark rum.

1.5 oz dark rum
0.5 oz lime juice (maybe 3/4 oz, I might be wrong here)
Couple dashes of Angostura bitters.

Shake, strain, garnish with a lime squeeze.

No, I'm thinking of a Caipirinha. It's not going to taste the same as one made with good Cachaca, but it will be good nonetheless. I don't like Mojitos because of the mint flavor.

Interestingly, consuming mass amounts of Cachaca have actually turned me back on to Tequila.

[/ QUOTE ]

There's a pretty notable difference in flavor between Cachaca and rum. A Caipirinha made with rum does not taste very good if you've ever had the real thing.

I think it's been awhile since you've had [censored] rum then. Bad rum, which the OP has, has a wonderful sour kerosene taste to it that makes it work just fine in a Caipirinha. It's not like Cachaca is a wonderful taste experience.
