[ QUOTE ]
My wife is getting a new car. She is interested in low cost, high gas mileage, and durability.

She likes a Honda Civic and a Hyundai Elentra.

I need feedback on these options, as well as some other ideas if you have them.

[/ QUOTE ]

3 weeks ago I bought a Civic. I drive about 130 miles RT to and from work 4 days a week. The 40 MPG has already started saving me 20-30$ a week in cold hard cash. The car is very sporty to drive. The new HUD makes you feel like your in a race car of soem kind..at least it did for me. The first car I looked at because of the current incentives, and the MPG was the Hyundia Sonata. I am very glad i did not get one, the feel it gave me while driving was "eh" at best. There is slightly more room in it, but the 7-8 mpg diff will more then make up for that. I also have a Honda lawn mower if that helps..lol

Plus, you have to tell people you drive a Hyundai.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, this is kind of a big deal.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why would you give a crap about what other people think about what you drive?

[/ QUOTE ]

because most people care what others think of them. Do you comb your hair and shave every morning?

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't put on pit because I care what people will think. I put on pit to maintain the current state of odor detente that exists in society. If I start to stink, everyone else may follow. And that scares the crap out of me.

Honda probably still edges out hyundia, depending on what kind of deals you can find, 10 years ago it wasnt even close honda ftw, but hyundias have come a long way.

Maybe this will change folks opinions on Hyundais:

I may seriously trade my Infiniti G35x in for one of these, when they're available next year...

4.6L V8
"well over" 300 hp
20" wheels
6-speed manual
"well under" 6.0 0-60

Sorry..."pit" = "deodorant" in the parts of Canada I've lived in.

And in recalling the post I thought he'd mentioned deodorant. I'm not...I'm not smart.

That is a pretty cool car. I've seen it in person. Great look.

Hyundai claims it'll start under $30K. I'm betting the stripped down one will come in at $29-something.

Even if you want to claim that Hyundai has come a long way reliability wise(which is has) the resale values of the two cars are nowhere near each other. Sad but true.
