Re: How do you order your steak?
Some advice: if you're in France when you order your steak, move up one on the scale (rare goes to medium rare, etc.) and if you're in the UK, move down one (well done goes to medium). Otherwise you won't be happy.

If its a nice restaurant, I go with rare. Otherwise medium rare. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] wtf most place overcook in my experience. [/ QUOTE ] If you ever go to Outback you'll know what they're talking about--and at least they warn you before hand. [/ QUOTE ] The last time I ate at an Outback, I had to send my steak back twice for being well done when I wanted medium rare. It came back the third time at room temp on the outside, so I told the manager we wouldn't be paying for our meal. [/ QUOTE ] Last time I went to Outback I ordered my steak medium sent it back 3 times because every time it came back still bleeding. The last time it came out completely black on the outside, but still uncooked in the middle. I haven't gone back since. |

Re: How do you order your steak?
The steak should be Rare, and if it's Prime Rib, deliver it bloody.

Re: How do you order your steak?
When I was 20, rare.
When I was 30, medium rare. Now I'm 40. Yup, medium--and I'm already starting to lean toward medium well. |

Re: How do you order your steak?
That's odd. I've had some of my best steaks at Outback.
I bet 99% of professional chefs / food critics / cattle ranchers have their steaks done no more than medium rare. Now, you should go ahead and eat whatever the hell you feel like, but that would be the elitist opinion. |

Re: How do you order your steak?
I don't think I've ever eaten a steak cooked any way other than medium rare.
I try not to be a food snob and am willing to try new things, but medium-well or well done steak looks terribly unappetizing (to be fair, so does very rare/blue imo). What's good about it? |

Re: How do you order your steak?
I've never understood all the Outback hate on this forum. They have decent steaks at a fair price. I've never had any trouble with how my steaks have been cooked, and I always order medium.
You can get a decent steak there with baked potato and salad for under $20 including tax and tip. |
