2 I am up in the air on, I would need a read on villain because I don't understand why he would be so confident in his hand when he raised UTG and had 3 other callers. If i had AA in villains spot it would be a close fold for me and yet he 3bet pushes the flop? Might be AQ-AK [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] or huge PP but I can't give a solid answer because I would have called the flop and re-evaluated the turn.

Hm, I may have to rethink number 5 after seeing some responses and stoving a few reasonable ranges. It's thiiiin, or just about 0EV, but better than I assumed thinking that we're drawing to 6 outs or a split type thing if we manage to hit -- and I think it's safe to assume we have to hit here. We need about 30% and that's just about where we are. I thought that it was more clearly a fold, however, than when I originally looked at it and thought we were somewhere in the range of 23-30% against guessable ranges.

Still, I dislike it against an unknown BB.

Great exercise. Enjoyed trying to work out ranges/equity.

I went for:

1. Fold
2. Close, but Call
3. Close, but Call
4. Not close, Fold
5. Meh, Fold

Hand 1: We don't have the odds to call here
Hand 4: lol
Hand 5: Meh, I've invested $2 here, and think winning this more than 33% of the time is a bit optimistic (I think we have to discount 2 of out str8 outs often). Dunno, not 100% sure.

Hands 2 and 3: IMO, at the table you'd go with your reads/gameflow to make a decision on these, given how complex the equity calc is. I mean, in each we have between 32%-36% equity getting ~2:1 on our money.

I don't know the "answers", but i'll give my view.

Hnad 1 is a fold. People saying button will always come along are way off. IME, he will come along 25% of the time at best. We're getting like 10:1 implied, and we need nearer 12:1. (the 5/10 rule is wrong, and should really be the 3/8 rule).

Hand 2 is a call for me. I saw some1 above say that we shld fold b/c he could have hearts, but we WANT him to have hearts, as we're 50/50 with them with a nice overlay. Villains range here IMO is JJ+/sets/hearts. We have more than enough equity vs this range.

Hand 3 looks like a call for me without doing any calcs. From previous hands, our 2 overcards are live with the FD quite often, and theres a really nice overlay here.

Hand 4 is an easy fold and its not even close

Hand 5 I thougt was close, just looking at it, but some quick maths shows its an easy call. We need to win 29% of the time. If we're up vs AA and KhQh, we win 30%. If we're up vs a set and AA we win 27%, when vs 2 pair and AA we win 37% or 43%. The only time we are ever really screwed is when we're up vs a set and FD or vs the flopped strt, I just don't see that happening too often though

The last hand has convinced me to finally get pokerstove. Thought that was a pretty easy fold.

Also, I'm not sure if AJ's comment was directed at me, but I said something on the 4th hand like there's no money in the pot. All I mean by that is that we need real close to 50% equity to call and we're nowhere near it, so fold.
