Minnesota Golden Gophers = Minny Memphis Tigers = Memphis Maryland Terps = UMd Mizzou Tigers = Mizzou Miami Hurricanes = The U Maine Black Bears = UMaine So yeah, when people say UM they should be talking about University of Michigan

Besides, Michigan has one of the greatest football traditions in all of college football so it just makes sense who the thread is about... although it could have been clearer especially if you are not familiar with the school.

FWIW - They actually do occasionally refer to Memphis as 'U of M' in their broadcasts and so forth.
Many of the other U of M's would never refer to themselves as that imo...such as Ole Miss, probably Miami I'm guessing, not sure about Minnie.

But, A new coach will only be able to accomplish so much in the cesspool of mediocrity that is Michigan State University. Dantonio's inherited some bad players, and Drew Stanton is gone. If MSU could get off to a great start and have some confidence and momentum going into the game, MSU will be a tough matchup for UM. But, MSU has a tough schedule this year, w/ ND, UW, OSU, and Iowa all on the road BEFORE the UM game. I am not worried about MSU. At least not yet.
