Some people like to play poker.

And wtf do you mean by "job skills"?
I'm sure someone like Aba, who's both intelligent and distanced is better fit for a career outside of poker than 99% of the population.

I understand this, but just because somebody excels are something does not mean he will at other things. Most of the good card players I know (ok, who I am kidding here, I'm a low limit donk) are degens. Meanwhile, I play with doctors, lawyers, and other big timers all the time that are terrible at cards.
As well, the longer you play cards exclusively like Aba, the longer that distance between jobs and work experience gets on your resume. If I'm an employer, who do I want to hire: The guy straight out of school who has been working as an intern and has his head on straight, or some guy who's been playing poker for five years with no job experience and is a flamed out degen. You make the call.

why would you even want to play anymore?

One of the reasons people like aba get to the top is because they are driven by the challenge more than the money. Oh, and they're heck of a lot smarter than us mere mortals.

I'm not just talking about poker here either.

I can understand the challenge, although it's something I'd never fall for. The money they play for is just too big and too life altering. Lose millions and you're bust, have fun working at a crummy job while dreaming of all the money you gave away at a card game. As for being smarter, smarter at cards yes. They excel at one thing, and that is absolutely awesome for them. I am not a hater and I think it's great people can do that.

Gotta like Baldwin.

The room is named after you and the original cast of the big game aren't playing.

No big game during the WSOP at Bellagio? WTF

Bobby steps up and provides action for these new internet holdem wizards. Holds his own and even takes in a little profit. From what I recall, Bobby doesn't like to play in his own house, he'd rather bring the game to the Aladdin or somethin.

The stakes now are probably the biggest Bellagio has ever seen in a NLH game.

Good to see at least one of the old timers still holdinfort.

Actually, according to Brandon Adams, Sammy was the winner so far.

When taking into account aba's bankroll and how much he made last year you also can't forget about taxes.

I don't follow him like you guys do.
I imagine he made some money from investments but also certainly must have spent SOME of those winnings on some fun little toys.

[/ QUOTE ]

He seems uninterested in buying expensive things in comparison to almost all of the other nosebleed winners.

[/ QUOTE ]

He's stated once he has a mansion, fwiw. And a puppy. Those aren't cheap.
