Polls are always bad because you have a bunch of lurkers voting with an opinion there are not confident enough in to post. No offense to lurkers but yeah they usually suck.

How could you not c-bet? Not only does not c-betting put you in a tough spot, you would bet here w/ an Ace right? So you have to bet here w/ KK!!!! Obvoius c-bet imo.

[/ QUOTE ]

You wouldn't necessarily bet here with an A. There is a little thing that some players do that is called "mixing up your play!"

lots of really bad advice in this thread.

unfortunately this is a really opp-dependent spot. against most unknowns at this level your line is good. against some types though you should call the river.

betting the flop is sometimes OK but certainly not a no-brainer. my preference is to bet this flop with good aces and when I have reraised with garbage like T9s or whatever. no need to turn KK/QQ/A-rag suited into a bluff here if you are balanced properly in the rest of your game. though against some opponents betting flop can be OK if they will call you with 99.

I definitely hate betting the flop for the most part, although there are some textures/opponents that I will bet the flop against.

I really like the idea of checking when we have AK against a thinking tag in this spot, something that I don't do very often as it is.

All,
Please stop saying c-bet-> fold. Its gross to put in 50bb before the turn if youre planning on folding with 100bb stacks.

And what would be even worse is c-betting and stacking off. We don't need to put in 50bb before the turn even if we c-bet and your post makes no sense. The only purpose of c-betting is to get to know where we're at in the hand, winning the pot when ahead and be able to dumping it when behind for the total cost of ~40bb. I don't defend a c-bet on the flop, but your logic fails.

Jay,

I don't understand why you don't bet the turn. Pretty sure lower PPs look you up if you bet the turn after checking the flop.

In this spot at my typical games I cbet only occasionally, but I will bet the turn nearly every time if the flop gets checked through.

as played I call both streets, its v likely he figures out you dont have and ace and can take advantage of position and take you off it (2nd level of thinking I suppose)
