The STI by far is the best car. That car has got so much power you can literally hear your bawls.

Here's a limited Edition that is a must-have if you got $$$:

Out of your choices, it's the Evo and it's not even close. I've done a ton of research on both the Evo and the STi, and the Evo just has better aftermarket and better handling. The STi is more "family oriented, daily driving" and the Evo is more "A rally car for the street".

I try to avoid posts like this, but the STi is made to take a huge beating. I don't have an STi, but a WRX. And it's DEFINITELY NOT "family oriented, daily driving". I beat the chit out of it and it still drives hella nice. Evo's are good for mods and the likes, but the STi beats it on performance and quality parts easily.

you are both wrong, they are VERY VERY equivalent cars. I've driven and rode in these cars in track situations (own an STi) and neither one of these cars stock for stock is better then the other.

EVO owners like to cite straight line acceleration, but is there really any fun in that? it's a product of longer gearing is all, the STi is made more for having the EXACT gear you need at any speed/situation (I cruise in 6th gear at 55mph @ around 2200 rpm)

Have you considered an Audi A3? You can get used one thats a few years newer than the S4 for around the same price. Get it chipped and you're at 245 hp. Not sure if you're into the hatch thing, but it is 4 doors.

volvo s60r should be looked at.

also its quite a bit outta your range I guess but you can find e39 m5's in the low 30's and high 20's. If thats definatley out of the picture, check out the e39 540i, or get a e34 m5 and boost it til it blows, then rebuild.

STI, but just so you know it's not "rediculously fast" it's actually not all that fast.

I hear the factory paint really sucks on the Evo's

Plus insurance really sucks for both the STI and the Evo.

Subaru paint is pretty horrible too. My WRX looked great until you looked at the lower part of the doors. Can you say worst orange peel ever?
