Jeff, I think the newbie is right! Raising the river and folding to a reraise in effect turns our hand into a bluff.

[/ QUOTE ]It does not turn our hand into a bluff if villain will call a re-raise with worse hands, but only push better ones. Again, I'm not talking about THIS hand, just as a concept in general. Saying you must call if you re-raise on the river is way to absolute.

Ok, sure... whatever. However, it doesn't really add anything to say... "This is bad advice." and then not add a thing.

I would like to see him give us the moral to the story.

Wrong.

Raising for value and folding to a 3-bet is a good play in some situations (when you think he'll pay off with a worse hand, but only push better hands).

You should know what you are going to do if you get re-raised on the river. If your answer was to fold, than why did you raise? It would be better to just call his 25 cents river bet. That way you arent risking your whole stack. You raised 4 bucks on the river to just lose it when you folded. Not a very good raise!

[/ QUOTE ]I think that folding here is bad, but there are certainly times you can raise for value on the river and folded to a re-raise.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't disagree. For this instance, all I was trying to say is that the OP should know what he would do if he were to be re-raised prior to taking his action of raising. I didn't think my post would spark controversy.
