Just got back from an all nighter there, and to my SHOCK, we managed to get a 5 handed 3/6 mixed game going at 7:30AM!

Exceptionally rare, but a great game nonetheless. I left my NL game for it, as it a couple other players.

Our mix was Crazy Pineapple, Razz, Stud Hi, O8, and Badugi. Badugy and CP were my favorites, but all were good times. I hated leaving, but had to get home.

Nice.

Worth repeating, that TI 3/6 mixed game is some of the most fun I have had playing cards in LV.

Great that you got it going at so late an hour and shorthanded.

LVM, do you regularly try to talk up that game and get it going when you play TI?

[/ QUOTE ]

I am pretty confidant that I can get it going any time I am there (especially if one or two of my cohorts are there as well), however I don't always try, as I am usually grinding at the NL table.

If someone else starts a list for it, I will usually always get on it, and it spreads most of the time someone wants it to.

When the game looks like it is going to spread, and I'm not there, TI will give me a ring.

It spreads often late at night when Swing shift gets off work at various casnios. I know a few Mirage, Caesars, and Bellagio dealers that hang out at TI for the late night mixed as well.

So, for the long version answer to your question, yes, I do talk up the mixed game, as I find it fun, a good experience, and profitable.

I tried the TI NL game tonight. I was totally in over my head - it occurs to me, in retrospect, that playing my first cash game ever there may not have been a good idea. I think I may have been at the same table that LasVegasMichael was. At least, someone named Michael who seemed to be a regular was there.

I was probably easy to spot - I was the one who didn't know how to play a cash game for his life. I think I eventually managed to start treading water instead of drowning. Still, definitely in over my head there.

I did play tonight. The guy named Michael was definately me. Which seat were you in when? I played from 3:00 to 6:00 and then again from 8-10:30. In the first session, I was in the 2 seat and in the second, the 8 seat.

The character in the 6 seat made the first session quite profitable for me (ands for others if I recall correctly), and in the second session, I was able to grind out a nice net, but from nothing in particular.

During the second session, they had a $5 a point CHinese going heads up between a dealer off the clock and a regular. I was thinking of getting in on the game, but the NL was too soft to get away from.

I thought the tables tonight were pretty standard, but then again, I am used to the game. There was only one local grinder (aside from myself) during the second session. During the first session, there were no regulars that I recall except for me.

With the $100-500 min max, you can try it out without too much invested, but I will agree that it was a little deeper then normal tonight.

I was definitely there for the second session. Seat 5, I think. It was your table. I don't think I was ever involved in a pot with you, though. After the initial shock, I tried to just play tight (weak tight - although the fact that I pretty much didn't hit a single hand didn't help) and get used to the game. I was playing shortstacked (much cheaper when I realize that I'm liable to make a mistake costing me my entire stack.)

If that was a soft cash game, I have a hell of a way to go. Still, it was educational. The money is booked as a learning experience.

The card room is pretty nice though. I'm thinking I'll try playing a tournament or two there. Not sure I'll give the cash game another try - not confident enough to buy in with more, and until I am, I'm probably too timid to be any good at it.

Fair enough. I will admit that the TI game is a tough game to play short. Ideally, you want at least 200-300 to play right, but I do understand your point of view. We have all been there.

I would definately recommend their tournaments. Cheap enough, and generally, the players are all pretty bad. Good luck to you!

+++++++++

As an aside, I recently was asked why, exactly, I like the TI room. I wrote a fairly long response, and felt that it is worth repeating here, just for clarification purposes:

1. Staff

The Staff of TI, as a whole, are easily the best in the industry. This includes management and dealing staff. Personable, friendly, accomidating, fair, professional, and experienced, which makes the crew an ideal one of this room. Chris and Danette really know how to run a room, and run it well (both coming from the Mirage during its respective "heyday" period).

2. Action/game variety

Although it is true that the vast majority of the time, there are only two types of games available (2/4LHE and 1/3NLHE), the staff is more then willing to spread oddball POKER games like the 3/6 Mixed game as well as low limit Chinese Poker ($5 a point with $3 per half hour time).

The action at NL is often insanely good. It has a $500 max, which is a rarity for LLNL, but the min is $100, which is more then reasonable to make tyourists comfortable. Plus the rolling $60 tournaments bring in more loose money wanting to try out NL and then get into the cash games afterwards.

3. Comps

The most generous in the city, at $2 per hour uncapped. The comp dollars can be used at ANY eatery in the resort. They add up fast and give you lots of choices.

4. Room aesthetics.

Being a 8 table room, it is intimate and comfortable. There are autoshufflers in all the tables, and the technology is the best in the city, with the ability to swipe players cards right at the table, and an electronic wait list system (with pagers should you decide to hit up the casino while waiting)

5. Location

The room is down a hallways, which means that thewre is little to no excess noise. There is lots of walkby traffic which is great for walk ins. Plus, it is located right next to the escalator to the parking garage and the tram to the Mirage so the convenience is superb.

6. Valet

Should you choose to valet, the crew at TI will valet your car 100% of the time, from my experiences. This is NOT the case at most Strip properties. Often, during peak hours, they will valet park hotel guests only. This has never once been the case at TI, and it is greatly appreciated.

I would try 1/2 or 1/3 somewhere else while you're in town. The TI low-limit game is a freak of Vegas. I've sat in that game with 4 pros at the table, and was lucky to escape with half of what I won from tourists before the pros showed up. Try a bigger place like the Wynn or Caesars or the MGM, because you can easily change tables if you find yourself at a tough one. Wynn is an easy walk across the bridge, as is the Venetian, if you're staying at TI.

Heading to Vegas for the first time this weekend. Regularly play 1/2 NL at my home casino so looking forward to playing a bit at TI. Hopefully I'm not in too far over my head. Wouldn't mind getting in the mixed game there as well if it runs this weekend.

I'll give a sup bro at the table and if you are playing Michael give me a heads up so I can stay clear

I will not be playing again until probably Friday or Saturday. Too much work to do this week.

I would love to start up the mixed game if you are there Saturday. I can get probably 2-3 usual suspects aside from myself to play, thus making it 5 handed already, without even announcing it. It is an 8 player max game, so it should not even be an issue.

See you then!

Yeah, the V was great while I was there all last year, but I haven't played there in several months now due to a few factors.

Though I firmly beleive that the V offers the best regularly spread tournaments in town and that aesthetically, it is the most beautiful poker room in the nation, I simply found myself better suited to the atmosphere and LLNL action at TI. There was another impetus that encouraged me to look elsewhere for a new home as well (regarding the laying off of a floorman that I highly respected), but what it comes down to is that though I respect Venetian as being a wonderful big room, I am personally happier calling the intimate room at TI my home now.
