Any 24 watcher has to be an expert at suspending disbelief, but it's interesting to see how we each focus on different plot twists as particularly hard to swallow.
For me, the whole concept that the Russians would attack us for allowing the Chinese to get their technology is a lot more absurd and irritating that details like how the Chinese manage to infiltrate CTU so easily. But I probably should not even engage in this kind of analysis; we're all better off if we just focus on the number of people killed each week.

I like how the US never called China once to say "WTF, stop Chang."
Do the writers understand if you have the same character by the same actor, giving them brand new motivations and ideas isn't so hot?

how the hell did Jack's Dad know the security codes for CTU?
And if he wanted his grandson that bad, why not wait until tomorrow when he'll be at home, alone with his Mom, to kidnap him instead of in a government bunker? Wait, it IS CTU, so it's pretty easy to infiltrate. I get it now. And RIP Milo. He was the only sane character on the show.

* They never said that Jack's dad was kidnapping the kid out of love. It's possible that the kid knows something or has something that Phillip needs.
* And yeah the China thing isn't making much sense. If Vice President Daniles is such a badass, then as soon as the Russians threatened him, he would have threatened the Chinese. * Why the hell is Russia so pissy at the US? Shouldn't they be planning to attack China instead? * Didn't President Zubarov say, just last week, that his troops were only an hour away. It's been an hour already. * Would he stop the attack if Martha Logan asked him nicely?

At least the first time around, he had some sort of moral high ground because he was trying to capture someone who attacked his country (embassy). Now, he's just another thug.

Daniels not dropping half of the US's nukes on China is really odd for him.

I put the show on pause for about 10 minutes while I went into the other room. I came back and when it got to the part where CTU was taken over, I accidently pressed the channel up button on the remote and lost that 10 minute time frame I was behind. So I missed the Milo thing.
