he call/check dark on the turn meaning hes chcking no matter what the river is but thts not really giving a free card its just giving AE a chance to bluff or value bet all the action goes down on the turn which was the two giving DB two pair and AE a wheel gutter

Well it's both -- he is giving a free card, as well as a chance to pick off a river bluff or bad value bet. I guess there are several tradeoffs, assuming DB plans on calling any river bet:

-----------------call/check------------------push
DB good -- free card, induce bluff -------- win pot
AE good -- may save $ if scare river ------ lose $100K more

Just looking at this beautifully formatted chart I have to conclude that DB was not convinced he was good. I'm sure he thought he was probably good, but nowhere close to certain of it.

I have only seen a few episodes of this..... but whats the general consensus of opinion on the standard of play?

It just strikes me (from the little I have seen) that most of you guys would have an edge in this game just playing in effect a pretty solid ABC TAG game.

that may be true for the first two seasons but the lineup in a couple of the season 3 shows was very tough.

It probably seems that way because the guys playing have played a lot with each other and do not play abc vs each other.
And then again playing poker is playing abc for most parts.
