very true.. but if you absolutely must, i guess mexico is a great choice as well as cuba or anywhere in the caribbeans. the earlier u book the better the deal ur gonna get. august is probably the most expensive month so try to avoid it. have fun!

oh wait, one other choice - vancouver, canada! but this is more to "see the world" kinda experience rather than "look at me, im relaxing and schit"

ok, did some quick homework and my suggestion is:

Key Largo, Florida

Flights from Baltimore, approx $500 for 2
Car Rental for the week: approx. $300
Hotel, found 2 @85-99 a night,= $500, AAA helps.
Total = $1,300 or so, plus food and fun.

I have been there once, on my way to Key West, its less than an hour from Miami, and about 2 from Key West, nice beaches, nice restaurants and bars (from what I remember, it was a few years ago) and nice and relaxing, unlike Key West sometimes.

Give it a shot, and good luck whatever you choose.

I stayed in South Beach last summer for $1000 for 2 people including airfare and 6 nights in a nice hotel. I flew out of Milwaukee so I'm guessing the rates would be the same.

You'll have to book a flight + hotel to save money. PM for more details if you want.

No offense, but that's not much for a vacation these days Where do you live? You like outdoors? On west coast, I'd go to yosemite NP if i were on a budget, get a decent lodge, bring some mary jane, and chillax. San Diego is super duper fun too. East, poconos or vermont (many ski lodges convert to summer resorts and can be super chill)? If you really don't mind slumming, I'd fly to spain and stay in hostels (pm if you need nice ones). Malaga, Valencia, Madrid, Sevilla, Barcelona are all nice to see and connected by rail.
Costa rica is a good idea too.

The mountains are actually more fun in the Summer, I would reccomen Aspen it is awesome there, it's pricy, but it's worth it. If you like doing stuff outdoors there sin't much better. Mountain biking, fishing, whitwater rafting, golf, and some of the best places to eat anywhere in the country.

On a side note, it sounds like you are paying for your GF as well, this is a serious mistake dude. Unless there is a ring on her finger that you put there, don't make large investments like this. At least make her pay for the airfare out there, then you can buy her balla dinners n stuff and you will still be considered a nice guy.

lol - we will eventually get engaged, we both know it. I just want to wait until we both are out of school and have good jobs. I have done my part - I am waiting for her to be done with school and there is no doubt she will have a job making more money than me.

so, let's just say there is already a ring there.
