That's pretty much it. the loose/passive fish don't know about rakeback.

But they are still likely to be tagged to an affiliate. From what I have seen, a lot of players sign up to a poker room via a link of some sort, which, unless directly purchased by UB, are most likely affiliates of some kind. I don't know how many of these affiliates earn MGR, vs CPA, but my guess is that quite a bit are MGR.

really? when i first started playing I just went to sites that I saw on TV. no affiliate there. what is the purpose then for AP/UB to switch to contributed?

I was a Absolute player and when they changed to contributed rakeback it totally sucked and I moved to UB. Soon as I heard UB are doing it I withdrew all money and have now moved to FTP.

I was so happy at Absolute Poker, not too fussed about leaving UB though personnelly I think the lower stakes hold em game there is pretty tough (although I beat it) compared to FTP and even more so to absolute.

Seems FTP is the only big site that accepts US members left with dealt rakeback.

So in a nutshell, affiliates are pissed because most of
their customers are TAGS.

And the guys getting rake-back will now realize they
just cant sit back and fold their way into making money,
which will make the games much better...hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Update for the month:

April: PT says total rake is $402 so far this month. MGR = $428

Not as good as it was last month....PT says total rake was $3962, MGR = $5388

you can get MGR in pokertracker under the "game notes" tab.

yeah, i've seen that. MGR in PT is for dealt though, so it's not an accurate representation. Also, that MGR never seems to match my MGR from my affiliate anyway.

well so far after a week or so of this new rake method, and I have already noticed a sharp drop in my rakeback. Not a good sign.
