true, accidentally watched some yesterday and he was talking about how he enters a stock he averages down when he can. Buys at a few different price levels as the price drops for those who don't know what that means.

Intersting Article about short trading

I have no idea what he is implying here, so maybe someone more knowledgeable can translate it to English.

Jim Cramer has very good contacts and sources of information, but at times his analysis is very flawed. He's also making his buy/sell reccomendations in a vaccuum, and just because he recommends something (even if he's right) doesn't make it a suitable investment for your grandmother.

How much did Cramer drop in "The Street" fiasco?

I know almost nothing about finance but I do know that Jim cramer has managed to be incredibly successful so I'd imagine there must be some merit to his analysis.

edit: He can be annoying sometimes but FWIW I find him entertaining.

Thanks for your insight.

Are you disputing that he has been successful?

Or do you consider my argument illogical.

Obviously success != good analysis but there is definetely a correlation.

BTW I'm not necessarily talking about his show but from what I have read/heard he was a succesful trader before Mad Money.

Depends on how you define "successful" and at what you're saying he's been successful. Does analysis have anything at all to do with being a successful TV host? No. Does it have anything at all to do with starting & running an investment website? Maybe, maybe not. Does analysis have anything to do with managing a successful hedge fund? Maybe, maybe not. As I said above, I think most of his success has come due to his contacts and access to information.

Cramer's good at generating income for brokerages. I would recommend reading

if you're interested in investing.

not everyone at Harvard grew up rich.

While of course your statement is true, it is false to say that everyone who didn't grow up rich is poor.

I 'm just saying I'm not ready to buy into the "poor boy makes good" template yet. I will certainly believe he's wealthier than his parents ever were, but I would peg him as coming from an upper middle class or maybe even a middle class working family, both in my opinion, are a far cry from poor. Another clue is I don't see too many poor kids getting stocks handed to them as presents for the 13th Birthday.
