Re: Crossfit Discussion

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] You can be very elite at crossfit workouts and still look like trash. [/ QUOTE ] You have someone in mind? [/ QUOTE ] I think the youtube/google videos are enough. [/ QUOTE ] Provide a link to the elite crossfitter you think looks like trash. You know, defend your claim. [/ QUOTE ] What goes on with elites isn't relevant to anyone but a tiny percentage of people. Better to focus the discussion on what the average person, or person a bit more dedicated than average, is likely to do, and be able to do, and look like as a result. |

Re: Crossfit Discussion
[ QUOTE ]
Mostly hyperbole. Its not all things to all people. Its an excellent program to get you in shape as a general athlete. It's not going to out perform a well-created hypertrophy program. You can be very elite at crossfit workouts and still look like trash. Which isn't what 99% of people lift for. [/ QUOTE ] Thremp, You ridiculously underestimate the % of people who could care less about hypertrophy or looks as opposed to performance, strength, athletic ability, etc. Depending on goals, it wipes the floor with any program with hypertrophy as its main focus. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YARXjYqC8mU This guy strikes me as rather meh for what I've been told is a v v impressive time. [/ QUOTE ] So you've determined that a guy in a loose t-shirt is trash, from a physique standpoint. I wonder how many agree with you. I wonder if you actually agree with you (aside from your peerless intellectual honesty). Fast forward to 1:56-2:02 and you can see him with his shirt off: http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/C...perWorkout.wmv I think I'm gonna have to give up here. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Your first quote selection is lollerskates in intellectual dishonesty. [/ QUOTE ] So now I'm a dishonest. Below I've attached the entire post you've responded to. Please tell me which part of his post I unfairly deleted. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I guess I dont understand what crossfit is? I am looking at the list of exercises on the website. It has Olympic lifts and powerlifting in addition to all the "crossfit" exercises. Seems like that would be great for hypertrophy. What does a week of exercises for a elite crossfitter look like? I see tons of individual stuff but I am really curious about a whole week. I would like to try some of it out if it includes all the powerlifting and olympic lifting stuff. [/ QUOTE ] Are you honestly going to say that by following crossfit or a crossfit based routine that you would see better physique results than if you opened up your range to all sorts of different programs and other options? [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] I'd say all of it that you spent time deleting. [/ QUOTE ] Right, so say, his question, "I guess I dont understand what crossfit is?" is germane to your "Are you honestly going to say that by following crossfit or a crossfit based routine that you would see better physique[...]" |

Re: Crossfit Discussion
i am skipping/not participating in the arguement.
i may join later, but i really doubt it. thremp--5'8 and 160 seems cool to me. i guess the grass is always greener because i could be 5'8 and 200 of muscle much easier than the original specs. personally i would rather look like a underwear model than an amateur bodybuilder, but to each his own. i do think crossfit can get you a great physique, is it the most effective way to do so, prob. not, but we all have our own goals. el d.--i will call you after this weekend when i am more qualified to answer your questions. go meet those guys and take a class or two or something. it has been keeping me motivated which is what i needed for sure. shemp--i might shoot for panties instead of bathwater. easier to mail to you. later. J. |

thremp--5'8 and 160 seems cool to me. [/ QUOTE ] The guy in question is 5'5"/150 (and ripped, btw). edit: I should add the qualification, if he's talking about the same guy. |
