Re: I used to snap call here. Didn\'t I?
[ QUOTE ]
Board: 9h 7d 6c Dead: equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 50.054% 49.04% 01.01% 32046 659.50 { 5d5h } Hand 1: 49.946% 48.94% 01.01% 31975 659.50 { TT+, AJs+, AQo+ } And if he's 3betting 99, 88, 77, JT, etc, then he's also sometimes 3betting ATs, KQ, QJs, etc. So I think this isn't an unreasonable range. I'm not as far ahead as I would have thought, but I'm not behind either. I know he can push me off the best hand sometimes if the right cards fall, but I feel like I can do the same as well if different cards fall. [/ QUOTE ] What you don't seem to get is that the deeper the effective stacks and the more streets to come, the less important your "showdown value" or current equity versus his range is and the more important position. Calling a bet OOP on the flop with a very marginal hand and deep stacks behind just because you're flipping with his range is a bad play against anyone with a somewhat well-balanced strategy (i.e. is not easily exploitable on later streets) who's able to make adjustments. You should avoid spots like this as much as possible. If you had position, the preflop call is meh and very dependent on the current dynamic of the game, OOP it's pure spew. |

Re: I used to snap call here. Didn\'t I?
yad -
[censored] the noise. Yah, this is an overpair sometimes and we feel stupid, but how do we suspect villain is playing big broadway in this situation? This could easily be AK - of course AK will cbet the flop, and then I feel it's unusual for someone in position to just give up totally and check down two streets. This guy looks like a TAGbot to me, and I don't think it's all that standard for a huge pair to check behind the turn (not impossible, but the clear norm some people seem to feel it is). I'd probably fold preflop tbh, but something about his smallish flop bet, checked turn, and then much stronger river bet out of no where feels a bit bluffy to me. |

Re: I used to snap call here. Didn\'t I?
OK wtf.
AF of 9 over a decent sample size bets this turn ALL DAY with an overpair. River is a call. Preflop is bad. his range has gotta be something like AK-AQ 88-AA. (We are kinda crushed by this range) I think this 3 bet range is pretty reasonable given that u raised UTG and he is UTG +1 |

Re: I used to snap call here. Didn\'t I?
yad,
OOP, this is a fold preflop, and its nowhere near even close. Obv no set value. You can't control the size of the pot and a hand like 55 will so rarely give you semi-bluffing opportunities. Flop is also a fold. Dude, you're 50/50 with a random hand!!!! Board: 9h 8d 7c Dead: equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 50.028% 47.70% 02.33% 510484 24915.50 { 5d5h } Hand 1: 49.972% 47.64% 02.33% 509875 24915.50 { random } Add to that he can 2 barrel sometimes, ROI, etc etc and flop is a very easy fold. River is tricky. Its such a BAD spot to bluff in gebneral, that maybe he knows you know that so is bluffimh. Who knows. If he's good, we should be able to check that turn most the time with all overpairs/sets etc etc, so he's gotta be stonecold bluffing here with A LOT of combination of hands, given that so many hands could be vbing. So I think if I ever got to river like this, i would fold |
