"The Color Of Money" is probably one of my twenty favorite films of all-time. But "Goodfellas" is just so, so much better. Easy call.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not so easy. I was forced to figure which one I'd watched more. Goodfellas, 60/40.

I don't get all of the love for Color of Money around here. It just doesn't seem to me to be in the same universe as Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, or Goodfellas.

I mean, lame Eric Clapton music sequence, the whole pool/sports/showdown drama at the end? Come on. Entertaining? Sure. In the same class as the best of his work? No way.

The problem is that when you watch 'color of money', the very next week you must watch 'the hustler' and together, genius.

If King Of Comedy goes out in round one it will be a travesty.

Taxi Driver is like Dostoyevsky on screen.

[/ QUOTE ]

Imagine, THREE pages into this thread and only now does anyone trot out any real praise for Taxi Driver.

Look, Goodfellas is an entertaining film, and, I think, even "great."

But Taxi Driver is definitive. Travis Bickle is one of the greatest characters in movie history ("I think I got stomach cancer."). The entire film is the peak of cinematic achievement, seriously. It's so much better than junk like the Color of Money, I don't even know what to say.

[/ QUOTE ]

The only thing Taxi Driver is missing is a good plot. I think this movie is way overrated.

I assume I am the only person who thinks Goodfellas is slightly overrated. I think it's a great film, but I don't think it is as amazing as most people feel it is.

However, it's still my second favorite of Scorsese's films, with my favorite being Raging Bull.

[/ QUOTE ]
1. Raging Bull
2. Taxi Driver
3. Goodfellas

on a side note, I wrote my senior high school thesis on "Taxi Driver" It was awesome

I love Taxi Driver, but I don't "get" Raging Bull.
