I'd vote for him if his beliefs didn't get trampled over "for the good of the party" no matter which party he runs for. A president is one man--he does not run Congress (VP does that now ) and populist bills like the pork filled transportation bill will always get through despite the threats of a presidential veto.

He should expose the people benefitting from it. NOT presenting those guys as misguided but as actively evil.

Or maybe he does know that they're really just misguided, contrary to your beliefs.

[/ QUOTE ]

Claiming that they're just misguided is quite an insult.

I think he's one potential president who actually would use his veto power for just this kind of thing.

my actual vote doesn't matter

[/ QUOTE ]

Individualists think their vote doesn't matter so they don't vote, but collectivists see themselves as part of a greater whole and think their vote does matter so they do. Strange how the collectivists always seem to win! And so long as individualists can't see the forest for the trees on this, the collectivists will continue to rule us all and things will get worse and worse. This so-called "logic" is the primary reason our country has gotten so much worse as it's gone along.

I don't disagree with you that much, but the mindset of the country just isn't in the Ron Paul ballpark right now. If there comes a time(and I sure hope there does) where Libertarianism and small government ideals start gaining major support in America, then maybe one day I'll go out and vote with the rest of them. But right now, going to the polls and voting for a Libertarian is so -EV. There's a better chance I die on my way to the polls than my vote counting.

I think that moment is going to come when our economy takes a hit. If we bomb iran and the oil price spikes, there could be a crash in confidence in the dollar and then the [censored] will really hit the fan. Hopefully, the correct cause will be identified and the fed will be removed. Unlikely, I know, but you never know.

The vote for the authorization of military force in Iraq:

Senate: http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/ro...&vote=00237

House: http://clerk.house.gov/cgi-bin/vote....rollnumber=455

Kerry - AYE
Clinton - AYE
Edwards - AYE
Paul - NAY

One of only 6 Republicans in the House to vote against.

Or maybe he knows that everyone who would believe him already knows they're evil and to tell everyone else what they refuse to believe despite all the evidence would simply eliminate his credibility.

IMO libertarian ideals already have the popular support needed to at the very least put a significant dent in the statists' agenda, but the majority of libertarians don't vote because they think their vote doesn't matter. I know that I personally know more libertarian minded people who don't vote than those who do (and as many who vote Republican as vote Libertarian sadly).
