Re: New York City: Your favorite things to do or places to go
Strassa: There are street fairs all the time. I'm a big fan.
hawk: McSorley's is great. Naj: You eat well. I've been to and like most of your picks. I don't really think Olives is very good, though. Random mention, Stuart Scott was there when I went. I also think Mesa Grill is way overrated. Tao is good, but I just think it feels a bit dated and a little too over the top for my tastes. All: I like Aquagrill a lot. Sushi Samba is a really fun place to go, though Yama is still my basic go-to NYC sushi place. colgin: I'm a fan of Danny Meyer places except for Blue Smoke, which I think flat out sucks. All: Bars. So many of them... Don't know where to get started. A random few I've had fun at: Happy Ending (sorta divey/swanky Chinatown bar, hard to describe vibe), The Library (East village dive), Dakota Roadhouse (downtownish dive bar w/ foosball and cheeseburger fries and flip you for drinks on special night), Brandy Library (swanky tribeca whiskey joint, great selection, very relaxed vibe), Flatiron Lounge (cool nice lounge, great drinks). |

Rock and Roll (used to be punk/metal) karaoke at Arlene's Grocery is my favourite activity in NYC.
The house bands have been good and most singers I remember have been also good. If you're into rock/metal, give this a shot (and twelve for yourself). Beware of drunken Finnish tourists. Arlene’s Grocery 95 Stanton Street, NYC |

A great place to go eat after you get trashed at The Library (or anywhere in the east village) is Veselka. It's a 24 hour Ukranian diner; get the pirogies. |

Re: New York City: Your favorite things to do or places to go
does anyone know any cool spots in Tribeca? restaurants are pretty obvious, but bars/clubs/anything else to do of note... a bunch of us live down here/financial district/battery park but none of us actually go out much around the area.

Re: New York City: Your favorite things to do or places to go
high-end Italian: Babbo.
lesser known Italian: Novita, 22nd and Park. Really reasonable. spectacle: the Modern at MOMA. Eat alongside the sculpture garden. I'm a fan of Hearth also, it's basically a mini-sibling to Craft. KRANTZ, where you live, nearly every doorway is a club or lounge of some sort... |

No. We live on the north side of battery park city. Head east for financial district/city hall which is pretty dead. A little north takes you to places along west broadway. There are maybe 2 regular "bars" around us from what we've seen, both which I didn't really enjoy going to. lot of my buddies live down by like 2 Gold and 45 Wall and none of them go out in the neighborhood. It sucks to head out on a friday and find yourself all the way uptown, simply because you couldn't find a good local place. Walking distance would be nice. |
