I don't know where the line is, but I strongly believe UATrewgaz just crossed it. How about a ban for being an ignorant donk?

I posted once in the other thread.

Basically, I think the the NFL is an excellent meritocracy. If you can win, there is a job for you regardless of the color of your skin. This is as it should be.

Looking at quotas, and comparing the demographics of one population vs. another is absurd. (People use this to say that there aren't enough black coaches since they are a lower percentage of coaches than players. However, by this same logic, it could be argued that there are too many black players in the NFL, and thet the NFL needs to make an effort to get more white and asian players.)

A few years ago, when the NFL first addresed this issue, there were only 2 balck head coaches (Dennis Green, and Tony Dungy). This year there were 7, more than three times an many. That's a pheonminal growth rate that everyone should be happy with (except for those who believe in quotas, who, I assume, are hoping to see a reduction in the number of black players). Overall, I think the NFL is fine (with respect to race).

As for this game being coached by two balck coaches, I don't think about it at all, I don't think skin color is important.

If the line is not having a sense of humor at all then you are like 50 million miles over it. Too many NBC "The more you know!" promos?

That looks pretty ban worthy to me.
I'm sure the fact that you've already been run out of one forum isn't going to help your case either.

I agree this is going to get overplayed. It is also true that there will always be some ridiculously overplayed storyline ("And now we'll show another shot of Brady Quinn's sister, who if you didn't realize from the last 400 times we mentioned it, is dating AJ Hawk", or anything about TO, or anything Yankees/Red Sox, etc).

But at the same time, I think people do dismiss race a little too much. Do people start threads to pre-emptively bitch about other lame storylines? Probably TO, what about others? Especially game specific ones? A person's race may not directly impact their ability to do anything, but we still all notice race. It's a social construct, and obviously has much impact on the way people think. So the fact that two black men are coaching teams in the Super Bowl has to have some significance.

If nothing else, I'm curious about what castefootball.com thinks...

I dunno, it doesn't seem like there was any ill will behind his post. I didn't find it funny, but I dunno about banning the guy for it.
