I think we'll try something different in the way we pick the next selection. I think each member can nominate a film, and it's from the resulting list we vote and pick. This might be a one-off we'll see how it goes.

db, this might be a good idea, actually. i think people will enjoy making their own nomination each time.

what do you and others think of rotating different guidelines for the voting each time: new releases, old favourites, foreign, certain genre, etc. get some unity within the nominations and then everybody will know what's in store and it's a little more engaging.

i hope mr. baseball will still participate and on the times that it's a new release he'll know for sure that he can join in.

methinks individual nominations and having a theme of some sort could be good.

I was going to say that if Odell agrees to watch the rest of "Age of Love" with me then I will vote for his Cool Hand Luke even though I'm rather sick of that movie. But then I realized he could just lie about watching Age of Love so not sure how that would benefit me.

I really like your suggestion of rotating themes or genres. It would be impossible to choose between, say, Virgin Spring and Tommy Boy. Both excellent films but should not go up against each other. Rothko makes a good point.

Also agree about wanting mr. baseball to continue participating. I always enjoy his posts.

I'm still here! Haven't been able to find Festoon or Ikiru. If I can reasonably find them I will watch them and discuss them.
