I just called, Levi called. River came a blank. It got checked to me. I checked behind. [/ QUOTE ] Ok seriously calling and then checking behind is bad. You have a bet when checked to here 100%. -Brad |

I just called, Levi called. River came a blank. It got checked to me. I checked behind. Chantel showed the other QQ, which was about as good as I could have hoped for, and Levi mucked. The more I think about it, the more obvious it is to me I should have raised to get Levi out and folded to a 3-bet from Chantel [/ QUOTE ] She sounds totally straightforward. Like bet/call, cr turn with a set straightforward. |

Checking behind the river after that action seems super bad. Also, don't most good players take the Schneids perfect set line with AA and sets like always in 3 handed or less pots?

Obviously in most cases I could rule out KK/AA and a set when it got checked to me, but I didn't think that was necessarily the case here (she did check QQ here after all, so it's not exactly like she's playing the hand superaggressively herself). Plus I was so confused by the turn action I just had a mental slip-up and was just hoping to get to see how I was beat. I realize now I should have bet, but I'm still not positive my hand does well against Chantel here and it was pretty clear Levi had jack-[censored] the way the hand went down. |

I don't know anything about Chantell, but my guess would be that if we raise and she 3 bets our had is almost never best. Maybe 1/100 times or less. If this is true, then raising the turn and checking the river (folding to a 3 bet) has to be better than check calling for this spot. If we can be 3 bet bluffed (even occasionally) calling down is best, and against unknowns should be the default play.

I think flop c/r or bet 3-bet flop is more common. In this spot, its kind of important in Chantell's spot that the kid behind you will raise when you donk - if often times he will not, doesn't this line suck? This post almost makes me want to play limit holdem again. But my trust sign tells me otherwise: ![]() |

I could be oversimplifying but if Chantel is capable of three betting the turn with a worse hand, which seems pretty unlikey given the way the action has went so far, raising has to be better. David is going to have a lot of hands that he is drawing very live to but will have to fold if he is facing 2 bb's. You cant fold the turn, so as long as we dont have to worry about her blowing us off a worse hand I'd raise the turn and fold to a three bet. If she is really sharp then I would just call down, cause there are some players who are good enough to realize you'll have a hand like JJ QQ here and you might be looking for a free showdown and wont be willing to call a third bet on the turn.
